I just watched pure trash

The film : Hollow Man. The Star : Kevin Bacon. The impetus : reading about how the special effects were done in Cinefex. The Verdict : It was so bad I want to die. The point : Have you seen it and if so do you share my pain?

But the effects amazed me.

Sure. "Mike Hanley". You're not the REAL Mike Hanle y. He would never say a thing like this.

Josh, Sunday, 15 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

yeah where's the space in your name

Ed, Sunday, 15 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

ha ha . I am home now, the space is for at work. Th e reason the space is there in the first place is I was afraid if there were two of the same name it owud mess up the system. WOuld you prefer I be "Miss Twinkle" instead?

Mike Hanley, Sunday, 15 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

The system doesn't care. It doesn't really do anything important with that part.

Josh, Sunday, 15 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

I've seen Hollow Man, it was okay, all I can remember was that Kevin Bacon was really hard to kill, he got hit on the head, burnt, and blown up!

Horrible film, made all the worse by the fact that it's Verhoeven's only dud movie, everything else he ever did is a masterpiece. Yes, including 'Showgirls'. That film rocked! Just as knowingly OTT in its approach to the soap genre as 'Robocop'/'TR'/'ST' were to the sci-fi field.

I already told you this was the worst movie ever made on the "Worst Movie Ever Made" thread. And Tom's got it covered here: Why Hollow Man is Bad for America . I'm still holding out for Tom's proposed sequel, though.

That was Al not Tom. Where is Al, incidentally? I think his brand of humour would be most welcome in ILE.

Richard Tunnicliffe, Sunday, 15 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

I need his illustrations! FT is poorer without them.

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 15 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

Damn. It bothers me no end when I mis-credit articles. I guess I just saw the "Ewing" part and assumed it was the work of Tom. I wonder why Al doesn't contribute more. Incidentally, Ned, if you're really stuck for an illustration then I'm rather handy with a pencil and I've got a scanner and it would be really nice to contribute to FT. I'm terrible with getting things done on time though, so file me under "Last Resort".

A terrible film. Nice effects though.

Al was last seen (by me) leering at young ladies at Sussed, did i mention it was on again this thursday?

carsmilesteve, Sunday, 15 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

What, the 19th? Good Heavens, this week is going to be expensive.

DG, Sunday, 15 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

no even the effects sucked

Mike Hanley, Sunday, 15 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

Al is working in a bookshop - much to the fear and displeasure of the Ewing parents. They see another kid doing the baptism of fire that Tom did ... it will just lead to an internet empire of fools and bad dreams about goats.

Pete, Monday, 16 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

And bad dreams about goats are suddenly not desirable?! What is the world coming to?
