6th September Cis will turn 22!
(I will turn 32, bah).

Cis is having a grebt party downstairs at the Glasshouse Stores - where else - and there shall be bar billiards, cake and J-Pop a go go. Yes? Good.
(Pete will also have a party there but he does not want to draw any attention away to the main attraction).

Come one, come all.
(Pete is going to have another thread about his other four parties soon).

Pete (Pete), Friday, 26 August 2005 14:00 (twenty years ago)

oooh I am halfway between the pair of you, age wise.

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Friday, 26 August 2005 14:09 (twenty years ago)

You are not one of us though as you have a different birthday!

Pete (Pete), Friday, 26 August 2005 14:18 (twenty years ago)

How did it feel being among the oldest in your year at school?

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Friday, 26 August 2005 14:29 (twenty years ago)

I was botht he oldest and the youngest, I was in a class of my own.

Pete (Pete), Friday, 26 August 2005 14:50 (twenty years ago)

This isn't trying hard enough - Sinkah and I had a joint birthday FAP a couple of months back where our combined new ages came to 91, so 54 is a poor attempt. I expect I will turn up despite this.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 26 August 2005 16:50 (twenty years ago)

Because it came out of the blue on Friday afternoon.

Pete (Pete), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 12:03 (twenty years ago)

Also, reminding people that we will get the results of the Popjustice £20 mussic prize (and the rubbish music prize) while down there. And there should probably be another run round at the Bar Billiards world cup thing.

(I had to turn down judging the £20 music prize for this. No chance to berate the shortlist already being racist this year).

Pete (Pete), Thursday, 1 September 2005 14:18 (twenty years ago)

We're going to have the Lex 20p Indie Prize instead.

Tom (Groke), Thursday, 1 September 2005 14:21 (twenty years ago)

My money is on Smog.

Pete (Pete), Thursday, 1 September 2005 14:33 (twenty years ago)

Joanna Newsom will run Smog close. Especially as I haven't heard the latest Smog album.

The Lex (The Lex), Thursday, 1 September 2005 14:39 (twenty years ago)

Cis boom bah! Rah rah rah!

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Thursday, 1 September 2005 16:53 (twenty years ago)

Turns out PJ is the 7th, so I will be able to attend all!!

Abby (abby mcdonald), Thursday, 1 September 2005 17:13 (twenty years ago)

That's my bday too!

Mary (Mary), Friday, 2 September 2005 04:30 (twenty years ago)

Hold up, that means I could make the PJ jury too! (If it wasn't for the Thai film). Has he definate;y moved it, cos if he has I mightget back to him withdrawing my withdrawal.

But the Mercury is on the 6th?

Mary, happy to have you in on the party too!

Pete (Pete), Friday, 2 September 2005 09:46 (twenty years ago)

clearly it is the best date of the year!

The pj site still says it's on tuesday. :( I didn't realise they'd linked PBS though, how... mildly surprising.

spontine (cis), Friday, 2 September 2005 10:47 (twenty years ago)

"odd blog"!

The Lex (The Lex), Friday, 2 September 2005 10:54 (twenty years ago)

I was invited to judge on Tuesday, but blew them out cos I had better things to do than berate another crowd for being racists like last year (Jamelia still should have won).

Pete (Pete), Friday, 2 September 2005 11:30 (twenty years ago)

i am baffled by all this mentions of pj miller and paul reed smith guitars

ken c (ken c), Friday, 2 September 2005 11:33 (twenty years ago)

This needs reviving. I will be there before 6, maybe 5.30 even, possibly depending on Starry.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Monday, 5 September 2005 21:17 (twenty years ago)

Nah, ver Popjustice thing is still tomorrow, no?

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Monday, 5 September 2005 21:52 (twenty years ago)

Happy Birthday Pete! Happy Birthday Cis!

Hoping to see you both this evening at the Glasshouse - might be very late doors for me though, but that'll only make being in the pub all the sweeter.

Magnus A, Monday, 5 September 2005 23:18 (twenty years ago)

oh, THIS FAP.

Would it be strange to say that I've never been to the Glasshouse Stores? My only London FAP was at The Pint Pot.

I hope I can make this, but I don't know. I'm leaving for Berlin at about 3am the next morning. I'll try and pop in for a quick one and wish Cis and Pete happy birthday, if not I'll be around next week.

I saw Teedra Moses tonight!

Adam in Edgware (nordicskilla), Monday, 5 September 2005 23:47 (twenty years ago)

Hurrah for Cis, Hurrah for Pete!

I will try to make this, but I've got some hardcore systems analysis/overhaul to do on the accounts system this week so I will be there if I can learn Sage in 6 hours... eek!

Will probably have to not drink much and go home early (so long as there's no rock stars to hold me down and forcibly pour champagne down my throat and make me stay out) but will swing by after work.

Luminiferous Aether (kate), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 07:01 (twenty years ago)

will be there, if I escape from birmingham.

Ed (dali), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 07:45 (twenty years ago)

Oh I forgot to tell you that H3l3n is off the radar for the next few days 'cos she had mobile nicked from the market stall on Sunday...

suzy (suzy), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 08:01 (twenty years ago)

I will be there. I will have plenty to drink. I will go home at closing time.

Tom (Groke), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 08:05 (twenty years ago)

haha did pete really berate the pj crowd for being racists!

HERO PETE

hold tight the private caller (mwah), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 08:10 (twenty years ago)

I will be there later than usual as I have to go and SIGN CONTRACTS on my new flat tonight! But never fear, as soon as signing and key-exchanging is done I shall be hot-tailing it back to town with a HEAVY THIRST at my heels.

'RAY!

Lucretia My Reflection (Lucretia My Reflection), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 08:12 (twenty years ago)

Hello, hope to join you, but right night I feel shocking (and it's not a hangover shocka). Should be better later though.

Anna (Anna), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 08:33 (twenty years ago)

Think of the wonderful work of the glass of wine Anna and all will clear.

My berating of the PJ crowd whilst advocating Superstar probably did more ham than good. My basic argument, that the singer was a mixture of
a) the best thing to spread on toast
b) the best party drug
c) everyones favourite character in Star Wars
fell apart when the pre-pubescent kids tried to work out who Marmalade K Binks was.

Pete (Pete), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 08:39 (twenty years ago)

very much doubt i can make this. i might stay in the office to finish off the work and if i do then perhaps it's one late doors. happy birthday though cis+pete! c u this thursday if i don't c u this tuesday.

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 08:45 (twenty years ago)

Might come along to this if the weather clears up later on. The day job is getting me down somewhat at the moment and I need some relief from it.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 08:47 (twenty years ago)

xxpost the estonian singer Paté Caffiene Amidala?

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 08:47 (twenty years ago)

i shall be there early obv.

WBS, are you our spy in the house of pj? updates will be necessary, whilst we conduct the FreakyTrigger 20p Lex indie music prize...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 09:08 (twenty years ago)

Er, no, I just noticed on their site that they definitely had the judging thingy as today. I would have applied but then I realised that I didn't much care for the list and would have spent the entire time moaning about how Goldfrapp and Shapeshifters were ineligible on grounds of release dates (fantastic as 'Lola's Theme' is, it came out the same week as 'Some Girls', which kinda won last year), so I thought I'd best not.

Pub it is then.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 09:54 (twenty years ago)

I beleive Abby is our inside woman.

And happy birthday Mary!

Pete (Pete), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 09:58 (twenty years ago)

not sure when, but i should be there not too late...happy birthday cis and pete!

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 10:52 (twenty years ago)

I'm sorry I can't make this tonight, but wish you both many happy returns and the best of birthday beers!

sgs (sgs), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 11:02 (twenty years ago)

happy birthday! will see you both later.

toby (tsg20), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 11:03 (twenty years ago)

I am wearing a birthday present byu the way for peoples enjoyment.

Pete (Pete), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 11:42 (twenty years ago)

Did anyone else misread that as "birthday suit"!?!?!?

Luminiferous Aether (kate), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 11:43 (twenty years ago)

is it a bra?

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 11:45 (twenty years ago)

I thought there was a bra embargo at the moment!

Luminiferous Aether (kate), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 11:46 (twenty years ago)

An emBrago.

No it is not a bra.

Pete (Pete), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 11:47 (twenty years ago)

batman undies!!! please let it be so

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 11:48 (twenty years ago)

I believe those are clled underoos. And its not underoos.

Pete (Pete), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 12:16 (twenty years ago)

Pete, Cis, I'm not sure I can make this. I now have to go to a work event thing this evening. I may be finished by nine, I may not. I will definitely be at Seal - but Cis, does this count for you too?
x

Anna (Anna), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 14:16 (twenty years ago)

I think Friday is Vitalic for me rather than Seal (tbf I am rather scared of Seal, it sounds a pit of mentalism.) But there'll no doubt be another FAP soon we'll both be at, if you can't make this 'un.

spontine (cis), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 14:23 (twenty years ago)

Ooer, I'd forgotten about Vitalic on Friday. That does seem a bit urgent and key.

RickyT (RickyT), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 14:25 (twenty years ago)

I do know the truth, but I had a moment there when it seemed as if more of you hip young people were choosing to go to see old Adamski associate Seal play than Vitalic.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 14:27 (twenty years ago)

Seal is a pit of MATT DC DANCING ON BARS TO THE WORST SONG EVER! And his co-DJ, who used to be totally hott in 2001, has lost his youthful good looks :(

The Lex (The Lex), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 14:32 (twenty years ago)

Incidentally, I only realised last week why it was called Club Seal.

The Lex (The Lex), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 14:32 (twenty years ago)

In other words, a pit of mentalism.

Tom (Groke), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 14:39 (twenty years ago)

I'mnot down with ver kids anymore, but may be swayed clubwards on Friday (though Matt DC mentalism seems urgent and key). Pakenham still stands for early doors.

But more the merrier tonight (my boasts of fifty punters to the barman is looking shakier by the second).

Pete (Pete), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 14:40 (twenty years ago)

Incidentally, I only realised last week why it was called Club Seal.

i.e. worst pun ever.

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 14:42 (twenty years ago)

Free of Brum: Nap, Shower, pub.

Ed (dali), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 14:43 (twenty years ago)

Yay, this is today!@@! Happy birthdays, Pete and cis and Mary.

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 14:45 (twenty years ago)

My white van was super speedy and I think Radio 2 as my co-pilot (what else do you have on whilst long-distance trucking) protected me for the evil spirits of the M40.

Ed (dali), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 14:45 (twenty years ago)

I probably will not get there until seven-thirty at the earliest, bah to work.

Aw, I want you to be there, Tracer! damn oceans, always in the way.

spontine (cis), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 14:54 (twenty years ago)

Yes. Bleeding oceans, uncomfortable things.

Surely you can get out of work early on your birthday. I am.

Oh hold on, I'm still here. Well I've not done no work...

Pete (Pete), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 15:08 (twenty years ago)

Yes. Bleeding oceans, uncomfortable things.

And here I was thinking I was being to graphic about my PMT!

Luminiferous Aether (kate), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 15:08 (twenty years ago)

Hmm, that doesn't read quite as well as expected.

Pete (Pete), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 15:13 (twenty years ago)

PMT itself isn't really very graphic though (although both the cause and the effect of it can be)

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 15:14 (twenty years ago)

Maybe I'll have white pizza for dinner.

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 15:16 (twenty years ago)

ooh sorry, wrong thread.

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 15:17 (twenty years ago)

I've only just seen this. It would churlish not to stop by for one as it is my new work local. See some of you in 10min.

Michael Jones (MichaelJ), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 15:42 (twenty years ago)

hb pete and cis

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 17:43 (twenty years ago)

One love (and yes, I should be there right now, but tbf, I'm only 5 mins away).

BARMS, Tuesday, 6 September 2005 19:08 (twenty years ago)

thank you Julio!

and thanks people who came down, it was Teh Excellent and you all rock. xxx

spontine (cis), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 22:59 (twenty years ago)

also: happy birthday, Pete!

spontine (cis), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 23:00 (twenty years ago)

happy birthday, yesterday! xx

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 23:01 (twenty years ago)

I ended up so down that I thought it wise not to spoil the birthday celebrations with my misery...sorry, but am sure you had a nice time.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Wednesday, 7 September 2005 06:34 (twenty years ago)

Nice to see the early doors people and hope a happy B-day was had by the birthday folk!

Tom, I owe you a beer - sorry I scampered off so quickly - I did mean to buy you a replacement after unintentionally up-ending the table, but figured I was being so clumbsy I'd probably trip and take out the entire bar.

Even made it home in time for Ginger CSI.

Luminiferous Aether (kate), Wednesday, 7 September 2005 06:38 (twenty years ago)

Tompaulin fans and members alike will be pleased to know they walked off with the inaugural John Wayne Memorial The Lex 20p Indie Prize.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 7 September 2005 06:55 (twenty years ago)

Well that was all good fun. Mmmm, Spain.

robster (robster), Wednesday, 7 September 2005 08:15 (twenty years ago)

Hmmm, Spain.

Hmmm indeed.

Pete (Pete), Wednesday, 7 September 2005 08:20 (twenty years ago)

Work thing went on ... and on ... and on. I got out at 11:30 instead of the much promised nine. Sorry guys, hope you had a good night.

Anna (Anna), Wednesday, 7 September 2005 08:29 (twenty years ago)

Happy birthday to you both for yesterday! Glad you had a good time.

Archel (Archel), Wednesday, 7 September 2005 08:58 (twenty years ago)

See you late rin the week Anna! We managed to go to Spain without you anyway, which was pretty empty and not a hairy man in sight.

Pete (Pete), Wednesday, 7 September 2005 09:15 (twenty years ago)

I still don't know why Gareth carries around a photo of Snoop Dogg at all times.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Wednesday, 7 September 2005 09:17 (twenty years ago)

the similarities are endless

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Wednesday, 7 September 2005 09:19 (twenty years ago)

That was the first time I'd been to the Spanish Bar. It was odd.

Lovely fap anyway, even if the 20p Indie Prize was RIGGED (Cat Power was robbed!).

The Lex (The Lex), Wednesday, 7 September 2005 09:32 (twenty years ago)

In and out by 6:45 but in that time we covered the peerless film career of Steve Martin, glue ear, the future of Junior Agogo and post-war German liver sausage made from WOOD. Ideal.

Michael Jones (MichaelJ), Wednesday, 7 September 2005 09:43 (twenty years ago)

More Robin Williams than Steve Martin, as I recall.

Also the book I had just started went on to mention a character described as one of the biggest liars in London!

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Wednesday, 7 September 2005 16:02 (twenty years ago)

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 7 September 2005 16:04 (twenty years ago)

future of Junior Agogo = prison, surely?
