The Iraqis seem to be having a bit of a tough time with theirs, so lets see if we can do better / avoid the brutal infighting along religious and ethnic grounds etc.

"We the Logged-In, in Order to form a more perfect Board, establish pwnage, insure domestic rofflez, provide for the common mods, promote the general OTM, and secure the Blessings of r0XxoR to ourselves and our Posterity, do condemn as hopelessly rockist this Constitution for ILX."

robster (robster), Friday, 2 September 2005 09:15 (nineteen years ago)

Life, liberty and the pusuit of HUGGLEZ!

Luminiferous Aether (kate), Friday, 2 September 2005 09:16 (nineteen years ago)

Any ILx Constitution should follow the example of the British Constitution, i.e. never been written.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Friday, 2 September 2005 09:17 (nineteen years ago)

b-b-but... you started it.

g-kit (g-kit), Friday, 2 September 2005 09:18 (nineteen years ago)

No, you started it, you invaded Poland.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Friday, 2 September 2005 09:19 (nineteen years ago)

We should have an arcane and mysterious Magna Carta which is all in Latin!

Or maybe just have another food science day where we try Rice vs. Potatoes vs. Bread and then we would have Magnus Carbus. Mmmm, carbs.

Luminiferous Aether (kate), Friday, 2 September 2005 09:19 (nineteen years ago)

i demand we have a Manga Carta instead.

g-kit (g-kit), Friday, 2 September 2005 09:20 (nineteen years ago)

...and if I don't have the right to graze my sheep on ILX Common, I'm going to lead a riot that burns the server down, just like mine great uncle!

Luminiferous Aether (kate), Friday, 2 September 2005 09:20 (nineteen years ago)

Oh wait, no, that wasn't about sheep grazing rights, that was about No Popery! So No Pop-ery! Rockism and King Mob! Except, erm, I really like Pop. Oh dear. Never mind.

Luminiferous Aether (kate), Friday, 2 September 2005 09:21 (nineteen years ago)

ILx can get very common at times.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Friday, 2 September 2005 09:22 (nineteen years ago)

Where did I put my pitchfork and burning torch?

Raymond Douglas Dadaismus (Dada), Friday, 2 September 2005 09:23 (nineteen years ago)

No Pot Pourri?

mark grout (mark grout), Friday, 2 September 2005 09:24 (nineteen years ago)

"In the first place we have granted to the 12' Lizards, and by this our present charter confirmed for us and our heirs forever that ILX shall be free, and shall have her rights entire, and her liberties inviolate by trolls and spambots; and we will that it be thus observed; which is apparent from this that the freedom of elections, which is reckoned most important and very essential to ILX, we, of our pure and unconstrained will, did grant, and did by our charter confirm and did obtain the ratification of the same from our lord, Pope Dan I, before the quarrel arose between us and our Barans: and this we will observe, and our will is that it be observed in good faith by our heirs forever. We have also granted to all freemen of our kingdom, for us and our heirs forever, all the underwritten liberties, to be had and held by them and their heirs, of us and our heirs forever."

robster (robster), Friday, 2 September 2005 09:25 (nineteen years ago)

I thought we were Against Pitchfork? Or is that just ILM?

Luminiferous Aether (kate), Friday, 2 September 2005 09:28 (nineteen years ago)

ILM are not even the Sunnis or the Marsh Arabs in this equation, they're more like the Assyrians

Raymond Douglas Dadaismus (Dada), Friday, 2 September 2005 09:29 (nineteen years ago)

Rob, you're a little too good at this. It frightens me slightly.

Anna (Anna), Friday, 2 September 2005 09:31 (nineteen years ago)

wee: the people

Britain's Jauntiest Shepherd (Alan), Friday, 2 September 2005 09:32 (nineteen years ago)

you missed the "on" in the middle there.

EVERY ILXOR SHALT LOVE THY NEIGHBOUR

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Friday, 2 September 2005 09:33 (nineteen years ago)

I'm sure there's room for a bit of this once things are agreed:

BAMIYAN, Afghanistan, Sept 2 (Reuters)
Hundreds of Afghans cheered on Friday as two teams of horsemen battled over a dead goat in a popular local sport organised to raise awareness of parliament elections this month.

The game of buzkashi, a version of polo with the carcass of a goat instead of a ball, was held in the central town of Bamiyan with the help of the election commission, which is sponsoring sporting and other events to spread its message about the vote on Sept. 18.

"It was a wonderful success, about 2,000 people turned up," said Greg Bearup, an official of the joint U.N.-Afghan election commission in the central Afghan town.

"People were really, really excited ... they're starved for entertainment a bit," he said.

Hello Sunshine (Hello Sunshine), Friday, 2 September 2005 09:34 (nineteen years ago)

Greg "Bearup."

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Friday, 2 September 2005 09:36 (nineteen years ago)

I was just thinking that there was some pretty outstated anti-semitism in the Magna Carta:

10. If one who has borrowed from the Jews any sum, great or small, die before that loan be repaid, the debt shall not bear interest while the heir is under age, of whomsoever he may hold; and if the debt fall into our hands, we will not take anything except the principal sum contained in the bond.

11. And if anyone die indebted to the Jews, his wife shall have her dower and pay nothing of that debt; and if any children of the deceased are left under age, necessaries shall be provided for them in keeping with the holding of the deceased; and out of the residue the debt shall be paid, reserving, however, service due to feudal lords; in like manner let it be done touching debts due to others than Jews.

But then realised it was because debts to Jews were actually legally different, because they were the only people legally allowed to charge interest at the time.

I don't see any mention of kittens yet

beanz (beanz), Friday, 2 September 2005 09:58 (nineteen years ago)

13. And the city of ILE shall have all its ancient cats and free kittens, as well by windows as by sinks; furthermore, we decree and grant that all other boards, threads, mods, and lizards shall have all their cats and free kittens.

Luminiferous Aether (kate), Friday, 2 September 2005 10:02 (nineteen years ago)

"We hold these Truths to be OTM, that all Kittens are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Milk, Cushions, and the Pursuit of Mice..."

robster (robster), Friday, 2 September 2005 10:03 (nineteen years ago)

I'm happy
