probably not. Whilst I applaud the idea of non-polluting transport, it is far more efficient to have a tram network. You can still have a traffic jam composed of your line of 50 vehicles all carrying one person, regardless of what powers them. Also, the chemicals used in the batteries can pollute, both in the production process and when the time comes to dispose of them.

BUT THEY ONLY RUN ON AA BATTERIES!
