just for a minute. no extended *hugglez* or tea parties, i swear. but what with the sadness and all...i like you guys a lot. you are all really cool. and i'm glad i found you here. thanks for the laughs and the niceness. plus, my oldest and dearest friend just left after a visit and maria and cyrus are away and rufus is asleep (he got lots of annoying hugs today) and it is my dead sister's birthday today and sometimes you have to be maudlin and say thank you and you should really go hug a loved one immediately if it at all possible or give them a call cuz you never know. you know? okay, i'm done.

scott seward (scott seward), Saturday, 3 September 2005 00:37 (nineteen years ago)

Were I at home, Scott, I'd open a beer and raise a toast to you. But, y'know, I'm at work, so that ain't happening. But cheers anyway.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Saturday, 3 September 2005 00:45 (nineteen years ago)

Cheers, m'friend. Tell me which bands at ArthurFest I should channel and send yer way. :-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 3 September 2005 00:48 (nineteen years ago)

Shantih and nothing but good wishes for all y'all.

thanks for being around, scott

I too am so glad to have discovered this gold mine/treasure trove of smart, funny, compassionate people who are willing to jump to the rescue of those in need, or give you the straight dope on whatever topic comes up. You’re all right there through thick and thin with rational answers or the good sense to say buck up, it ‘taint so bad. Thanks all!

Wiggy (Wiggy), Saturday, 3 September 2005 00:55 (nineteen years ago)

scott, i always read stuff you write here and think, oh, that's a nice way of looking at things and then i read your name and think, oh, right, of course, it's scott ...

Fritz Wollner (Fritz), Saturday, 3 September 2005 00:57 (nineteen years ago)

sweetness and warmth to you all!

teeny (teeny), Saturday, 3 September 2005 00:59 (nineteen years ago)

Thanks, Fritz. I am hoisting a beer for Alex and everyone. You don't have to be nice to JUST me here though. I just thought, what with the death and all, if people wanted to express nice things about their fellow ILXors briefly, you know...

But I think I got it off my chest. I can go back to being extra hateful like usual. (These tragedies just bring up some really bad memories for me, you know? I need to reach out to the people i dig.)

x-post with teeny's sweetness and warmth.

scott seward (scott seward), Saturday, 3 September 2005 01:03 (nineteen years ago)

Teeny, if I may say, is a treasure and a half. Wot a good sort. :-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 3 September 2005 01:05 (nineteen years ago)

i love you all, but fucking LOVE kanye west right now

Fritz Wollner (Fritz), Saturday, 3 September 2005 01:33 (nineteen years ago)

I'm glad to see Fritz around these parts again.

k/l (Ken L), Saturday, 3 September 2005 01:34 (nineteen years ago)

well, while most of us are definitely sad, I think we've been nicer to each other here on ILE more than anything other time I remember. Sure, we're angry as hell.. but, with rare exceptions, not at each other.

But I like the idea of this thread. Scott, you roolza!

donut Get Behind Me Carbon Dioxide (donut), Saturday, 3 September 2005 01:37 (nineteen years ago)

i haven't been on here very long scott, but i've gotta say, you (and Ned) are among my favorite personalities on this thing, and a big part of the reason why i have such boundless optimism and hope for our country.

now update your blog already! i've already tried to poach your spot (unsuccessfully) on riff raff! then again, i write about politics as often as music...but you should just completely freak out on the thing. have a good night!

blackmail.is.my.life (blackmail.is.my.life), Saturday, 3 September 2005 01:45 (nineteen years ago)

scott you are a righteuous dude, man.

oops (Oops), Saturday, 3 September 2005 01:53 (nineteen years ago)

Scott,
I'm raising this glass of mediocre Côtes du Rhône to you, man. Remember your dead fondly and don't forget to treasure the living, especially when they're young and carefree.

M. White (Miguelito), Saturday, 3 September 2005 02:01 (nineteen years ago)

You all rock and are wonderful sorts :)

Trayce (trayce), Saturday, 3 September 2005 02:03 (nineteen years ago)

Scott, I know I'm drunk and all as I post this, but you started the ILB board, and I have made real friends there, and for that I thank you.

I got married today. Everyone say 'well done you'.

accentmonkey (accentmonkey), Saturday, 3 September 2005 04:42 (nineteen years ago)

yay for you trish!

Trayce (trayce), Saturday, 3 September 2005 05:01 (nineteen years ago)

hooray! good news for once!

kingfish superman ice cream (kingfish 2.0), Saturday, 3 September 2005 05:01 (nineteen years ago)

scott you are awesome. a joy, really.

trish, congrats!!

you people are the best, though. all of you. i'm happy to have made lots of friends via ilx, including some i don't even think of as "internet friends" anymore, but are just people i hang out with.

i'm drunk, too. :)

jaymc (jaymc), Saturday, 3 September 2005 05:57 (nineteen years ago)

accentmonkey, if you are just married, this means it's your wedding night. So what in the name of all that is good and holy are you doing POSTING TO ILX ON YOUR WEDDING NIGHT!!!?!?!?!

(also, congratulations)

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 3 September 2005 11:06 (nineteen years ago)

Woohoo, Trish, that's great news!

i love you all, but fucking LOVE kanye west right now

Same here. I have been watching his speech a few times this morning. :-)

nathalie's pocket revolution (stevie nixed), Saturday, 3 September 2005 11:17 (nineteen years ago)

Ailsa, you raise an interesting point. Me and Accentmister are in Halifax, NS, with just my parents and a friend to witness the momentous event of our wedding. So I had to upload all the piccies to my blog so that all our relatives and friends in Dublin could see them.

And sure, you might as well drop in a quick post while you're here. And drunk. Especially the drunk part.

Sober now. I pulled 40 bobby pins out of my hair when I went to bed last night, and there's no guarantee that that was all of them.

What did Kanye West do?

accentmonkey (accentmonkey), Saturday, 3 September 2005 12:08 (nineteen years ago)

Congrats, Trish! A wish of happiness and all the best goes out to you. Kanye, during the live one-hour hurricane relief special on NBC last nite, said (amongst other things): "George Bush Does Not Care About Black People." It was stunning and bizarre and unscripted.

scott seward (scott seward), Saturday, 3 September 2005 12:20 (nineteen years ago)

haven't gotten round to registration yet so don't count me as a "real" ilxer

i don't know you Scott, or indeed any of you here, but i know your intent with this post and it's a good one - for that alone i shall toast yours and everyone's health with today's Emergency Lunchtime Pint

i've posted on boards before but this is the one i like best.

xx

john clarkson, Saturday, 3 September 2005 12:21 (nineteen years ago)

I pulled 40 bobby pins out of my hair when I went to bed last night, and there's no guarantee that that was all of them.

Hahaha, I went to bed on my wedding night looking like the frighteningest frightwigged person ever having also pulled about 40 pins out of my hairsprayed-to-within-an-inch-of-my-life hair. Poor mr ailsa's first morning of waking up with his wife meant he had to look at something looking a bit like Crystal Tipps.

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 3 September 2005 12:22 (nineteen years ago)

Well, Scott, you should really share some memories of YOUR wedding here.(I won't say more-but Scott and Maria's wedding was very...)
I think, or hope, you know how much I care for you and your family, how deeply I love all of you, for many reasons. But the first thing that enters my brain is-thank you for being great parents, for having children for all of the right reasons, for raising them well, for populating our messy, fucked up world with two great people who might, possibly, change it all.
Rufus and Cyrus are gifts to your parents, as well. Nothing can replace your sister-but they can, at least, fill the aching and longing for someone to love, who just isn't there anymore.
I don't know what else to say-it has been a tough week/year/millenium thus far.
(Thanks for bringing me to this (ILX)community;it's like a whole new dysfunctional family! )

aimurchie (aimurchie), Saturday, 3 September 2005 12:58 (nineteen years ago)

Hey scott.

You rule, ya know. Someday, when I am rich and vacationing on teh Vineyard, I will buy us a bunch of beer and we will get wasted. It will be wonderful. Give Rufus a big hug for me when he gets up (though he's probably up already--babbos like gettin' up early.) You're incredibly lucky to have two sons; I can't wait until I have kids (or, maybe I can wait.. just not too long.)

Also, I will listen to the first Barclay James Harvest album today in your honor.

Ian John50n (orion), Saturday, 3 September 2005 13:05 (nineteen years ago)

Yeah, instead of wanking on about my hair, I should have also said thank you to ILX for making my life a slightly better place. I've made some new friends, I've rediscovered old ones, I've learnt a lot about stuff, and I've learnt a bit about myself along the way. It's been good. OK, some of it's been shit, and I don't like everyone and everything here, but that's life. What's important is that the good far outweighs the bad.

(oh, and no hugglez from me because I don't *do* huggling, but hang in there, Scott, you seem like one of the good guys. Being maudlin's fine if you keep a sense of perspective, and you know that maria and the kids will be back soon and that you've got people around for you if you need them etc etc)

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 3 September 2005 13:12 (nineteen years ago)

thx scott for unfailingly lifting my spirits with your wit & wisdom, w/o even trying. and you were so right, that Peanut Butter Conspiracy CD (The Great Conspiracy)aches with beauty.

m coleman (lovebug starski), Saturday, 3 September 2005 13:16 (nineteen years ago)

i've gotta say, you (and Ned) are among my favorite personalities on this thing, and a big part of the reason why i have such boundless optimism and hope for our country.

This pretty much mirrors my own feelings. (Although my optimism and hope have some definite bounds.) But yeah, cheers all.

gypsy mothra (gypsy mothra), Saturday, 3 September 2005 14:55 (nineteen years ago)

Best wishes to everyone, really, I'm sorry I don't really feel like I participate on ILE anymore. I'm double-ly sorry for not wishing anyone a happy birthday in ages.

jel -- (jel), Saturday, 3 September 2005 17:45 (nineteen years ago)

(Thanks for the kind comments sent my way on this thread but surely this is all about Scott and Trish, rah! And Jel -- you can make up for your absence by sending poor Martin Mushrush the second ILX comp. ;-) )

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 3 September 2005 17:48 (nineteen years ago)

(I am so lame *hangs head in shame*)

jel -- (jel), Saturday, 3 September 2005 17:50 (nineteen years ago)

(Jel, *huggelz*. I know we shouldn't do any of those, but the HELL with it!)

nathalie's pocket revolution (stevie nixed), Saturday, 3 September 2005 17:52 (nineteen years ago)

i was drunkenly praising y'all to a friend just last night!

andrew m. (andrewmorgan), Saturday, 3 September 2005 18:07 (nineteen years ago)

"but surely this is all about Scott and Trish"

No, really, it's for everyone! I think it started as a CNN hangover thread for me. I just needed to think good thoughts and remember how friggin' lucky I am. And thank some of the people who make me feel lucky. Beautiful day today. Rufus and I are having fun. He is napping now. I am cleaning. AND I got a surprise visit from the Queen Of Pudding, Beth Parker. I am very lucky indeed.

scott seward (scott seward), Saturday, 3 September 2005 18:11 (nineteen years ago)

Even though I don't IM/e-mail/talk to any of you outside ILM, you are all still great friends. Love to all.

Curt1s St3ph3ns, Saturday, 3 September 2005 18:17 (nineteen years ago)

take care everyone

: )

cozen (Cozen), Saturday, 3 September 2005 18:30 (nineteen years ago)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 3 September 2005 19:15 (nineteen years ago)

Thanks for the good wishes, all!

I love my ILE, me. You guys rule and are fun and and, well, funny.

Er, that's it.

accentmonkey (accentmonkey), Sunday, 4 September 2005 02:34 (nineteen years ago)

geoff (gcannon), Sunday, 4 September 2005 04:33 (nineteen years ago)

i usually post on ilm occasionally, but when I finally arrived in Florida after evacuating NOLA this was one of the first places I went on the web. Made me feel a little connected or something.
you guys are great.

p.j. (Henry), Sunday, 4 September 2005 14:41 (nineteen years ago)

Hey guys, semi-lurker here sends her best wishes to all the ILXors around here. Hope you're okay, scott and everyone else too.

I've been feeling a bit disconnected lately since I'm swamped with work and my TV died a couple of weeks ago, so being on here 20 minutes a day has been a good way to just keep in touch with the world and realize that there's other things more important than my next assignment. And let's face it, you guys are funny. :) Love, love.

Roz (Roz), Sunday, 4 September 2005 14:57 (nineteen years ago)

glad you're okay, p.j.

20 minutes a day, hahahhahaha um.

i don't post all that much at times but i love this place. a lot of people here are funny and intelligent and all sorts of cool. my favorite internet mentalists evah.

Juulia (julesbdules), Sunday, 4 September 2005 15:52 (nineteen years ago)

Holy crap, PJ, glad you're okay.

accentmonkey (accentmonkey), Monday, 5 September 2005 01:26 (nineteen years ago)

Good luck, P.J.! I will be rooting for you. Hang in there.

scott seward (scott seward), Monday, 5 September 2005 02:17 (nineteen years ago)

ILX!

jim wentworth (wench), Monday, 5 September 2005 03:10 (nineteen years ago)

Wow, right on PJ! Where are you at now?

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Monday, 5 September 2005 04:53 (nineteen years ago)

20 minutes a day, hahahhahaha um.

It's been true for the past week, at least. There's not enough hours in the day.

But hahaha, yeah, normally it's way more than that.
