Okay, who out there knows anything about flight sims? I've been looking for a really good WWII flight sim lately. The last time I played one was Ace Over the Pacific, which was a long time ago...

I play them sometimes. The last one I enjoyed was IL-2 Sturmovik, which I think has a couple of expansions as well. It's supposed to be very accurate and has a dynamic campaign etc.

My gut feeling is that the market for "MSFS-generated recreations of famous airplane crashes on YouTube and the people who watch them" makes this inevitable

TFX brings dramatic fire and damage effects to Microsoft Flight Simulator

TriTriSim has announced the open beta release of TFX, a freeware add-on for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024 that brings dramatic visual effects such as engine fires, sparks, smoke trails, and crash animations to supported aircraft.

TFX aims to fill a gap in MSFS by adding emergency and damage visuals that are absent from the base simulator. The developer, TriTriTheCuber, created the mod after noticing the lack of immersive effects in scenarios like engine failures and hard landings. What started as a personal project has grown into a community-driven effort with ongoing updates and expanding aircraft support.
