Hello Sunshine (Hello Sunshine), Thursday, 8 September 2005 10:59 (twenty years ago)

Dog behaviour expert Jinny Hatton said the signs were promising.

Huey (Huey), Thursday, 8 September 2005 11:02 (twenty years ago)

I like this:

Aulophobia - Fear of flutes

Huey (Huey), Thursday, 8 September 2005 11:02 (twenty years ago)

That impressed me too. As did: Pteronophobia - Fear of being tickled by feathers

(I have that slightly, because I am very ticklish to the extent of losing all motor control)

Forest Pines (ForestPines), Thursday, 8 September 2005 11:04 (twenty years ago)

i think that's a good story, actually. over-told and dreadfully sold, but a good tale. and it's not often you get to use the word "hover" in a news story.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Thursday, 8 September 2005 11:12 (twenty years ago)

but dogs can't look up!

Onimo (GerryNemo), Thursday, 8 September 2005 11:15 (twenty years ago)

That is one ugly dog.

when something smacks of something (dave225.3), Thursday, 8 September 2005 11:42 (twenty years ago)

But nowhere near as ugly as this, of course:

Poor bastard.

Huey (Huey), Thursday, 8 September 2005 13:58 (twenty years ago)

it's gonna be a sad day when that dog dies.

not-goodwin (not-goodwin), Thursday, 8 September 2005 14:02 (twenty years ago)

Ephebiphobia - Fear of teenagers.
Is that what The Daily Mail & Daily Express have then?

Last Of The Famous International Pfunkboys (Kerr), Thursday, 8 September 2005 14:28 (twenty years ago)

Dies? It can't be killed.

Rumpie, Thursday, 8 September 2005 15:01 (twenty years ago)

Satan's Little Helper.

Aw, look at it's little face.

Huey (Huey), Thursday, 8 September 2005 15:03 (twenty years ago)

OMG! I am traumatized!

Huk-L (Huk-L), Thursday, 8 September 2005 15:03 (twenty years ago)

"She is a totally different dog to the one she was before the hot air balloon. . . . She keeps looking at the sky and is very nervous."

Poor doggie! Just imagine, wandering around all day just waiting for the BIG SCARY GIANT FLYING FETCH BALL to come back for you.

nabisco (nabisco), Thursday, 8 September 2005 15:04 (twenty years ago)

Aren't there doggie shrinks to help her come to terms with her doggie PTSD?

Pianist's dying wish to see his skull star in Hamlet

Now, can you tell what's wrong with this headline?

Mark G, Wednesday, 26 November 2008 14:02 (seventeen years ago)

Well, it's not a speaking part but still.

StanM, Wednesday, 28 January 2009 17:49 (sixteen years ago)

Why do we find it socially acceptable to put a pair of "man boobs" online without any sort of censoring (or bikini top), but should the BBC ever grace its front page with a pair of female boobs, they'd get fined/in hot water? It's not fair.

Pancakes Hussein Obama (Pancakes Hackman), Wednesday, 28 January 2009 17:53 (sixteen years ago)

there was another 'lol Africa' goat story the other day

O Supermanchiros (blueski), Wednesday, 28 January 2009 17:54 (sixteen years ago)

yeah that was a bit off, actually. told with just the right amount of relish.

An awful story but not quite what you might think from the headline.

Ned Trifle II, Tuesday, 24 February 2009 18:16 (sixteen years ago)

Well those fuckers are going to have a deservedly tough time in prison. Prisoners look down on inmates who are there because they've hurt the elderly, putting them just above rapists and pedos.

snoball, Tuesday, 24 February 2009 18:24 (sixteen years ago)

the bunk hierarchy is complicated

Wow, "cat stuck in tin can" appears to be a whole genre:

Les centimètres énigmatiques (snoball), Wednesday, 18 August 2010 17:53 (fifteen years ago)

as a bonus - he's gay.

jed_, Wednesday, 18 August 2010 20:19 (fifteen years ago)

Apparently the newsreader he flipped off had called him 'petal' in an earlier item. Cue a different kind of flip-out.

duchy of Pornwall (suzy), Wednesday, 18 August 2010 20:21 (fifteen years ago)

lol and all that. These bits of tension occur quite often in rolling news, arising from the need to keep banter that rarely work in the first place.
