For appearing on both Lost In Space and Star Trek: TOS, I vote Michael J Pollard.

Really? Why? Didn't like his bulbous nose? His impish drawl?

Not knowing who Michael J. Pollard is is scarcely comparable to not knowing who John Wayne is! The so-called "Lex Defence".

Like there's even a comparison here... Michael J. Pollard all the way!

MJP:
-Nominated for an Oscar for "Bonnie And Clyde"
-Played Maynard G. Krebs' weird cousin Jerome Krebs in "Dobie Gillis"
-"The Wild Angels!"
-"Star Trek," "Lost In Space," "Honey West," "Route 66," "I Spy," and "Eerie, Indiana"

Besides, as is well known, MJ Fox is the anti-Elvis.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 9 September 2005 16:29 (twenty years ago)

In fact, M J Fox took the J from M J Pollard.

MJ Pollard perhaps did more with less, but he worked against lower expectations because his face could have filled most of his roles, even if he were a less accomplished actor.

MJ Fox was handsome enough he could only have become a juvenile leading man and the competition for that niche is much fiercer than for character actors. Plus he was a shrimp (in stature, not talent).

Not an easy comparison to make. I think MJ Fox's career probably overcame greater odds. An insider in the business may think otherwise, who knows?
