Recruiters/HR People: Lowest form of scum on the Earth?

I get up at 10 fucking AM to talk to this recruiter. How do recruiting firms get any fucking business? This dude implies that C++ and C# are essentially the same job skill and then doesn't realize that .NET is related to C#. He talks to me for about 30 fucking seconds.

When a pack of dogs gang bang a bag full of dirty laundry, they're bound to jizz on asock, but I mean, really.... is this how HR practices are done everywhere -- even in non-computer fields?? I can't imagine what recruiting for like.... chemical engineering is like if the HR people are this dumb. When people are this stupid at reading resumés, it makes me feel like I need to pad out my resumé with every skill that I possess that could be conceivable searched for by these douchebags.

I know some companies have informed people as part of the hiring process as I have worked for some but I just felt like I was dropped through a portal of ignorance.

HR people are just the first doorway. They're basically figurehead cheerleaders, so stupidity is part of the job. They usually don't do the actual hiring.

Yep. The real stupidity is reserved for those in upper management.

BBBBBut if they would take like 3 days to actually learn something.....

Well, if you have it, put it on there. They usually run them through an automatic search program and don't actually read them. If you know what you want to do, search around the internets and figure out the main skills or whatever that people in that field want, and then make sure you use those keywords.

Being on the other end (I wasn't a recruiter but when I left a job once to go back to school my boss was like, here, find us people we can interview for your job).. you get like a hundred fifty resumes and does anyone have time to read all those and think about what the person is qualified for? No. And if the guy knew C# and C++ etc. in depth would he be working in HR instead of a more lucrative programming job? Probably not.

I mean it's essentially a challenge of making sure the automatic search program picks up on your resume (keywords) and then making the resume really clear and easy to read w/important info right at the top, so that someone who is trying to check resumes as fast as possible can glance at yours and know right away you have the basic skills.

Why are you at a recruiter? Do you know what you want to do specifically?

Its like.... you just need to know that there is a difference.

Anyway, I just had twoo goodo phone interviews! :D :D

I am looking to get a programming job that doesn't suck.

I imagine because it's almost impossible to get a programming job without going through one nowadays, unless you happen to already know a lot of people in the field you are aiming for. And, yes, 90% of them are worse than useless.

Programming jobs are a minefield.
