are there any stores that sell regular striped t-shirts WITHOUT collars?

I feel like I've been searching for striped t-shirts for over 2 years - I know they used to be sold at the GAP 7 or 8 years ago, long and short sleeve, but I haven't seen them sold anywhere in years.

Are you going for the elusive "old-timey convict" look?

n/a (Nick A.), Wednesday, 14 September 2005 20:39 (twenty years ago)

Hint: carry around a big bag with a dollar sign painted on the side.

I'll bet you could find them at Land's End, they always have striped Ts.

Have some thin stripes, not the chunky ones I remember but they could do.

Laurel (Laurel), Wednesday, 14 September 2005 20:40 (twenty years ago)

Not being a pedant, I just find this kinda fascinating: it's Lands' End! Which I guess is way more hardcore than just Land's End.

I can never find good stripes either: I approve of this question.

The English place-name would appear to be an unpunctuated "Lands End," making it one of very few places I can think of that are named full, grammatical sentences.

nabisco (nabisco), Wednesday, 14 September 2005 20:51 (twenty years ago)

Shockingly, you are right. Again. Although I feel there should be multiple islands involved to merit use of Lands'.

Laurel (Laurel), Wednesday, 14 September 2005 20:53 (twenty years ago)

you guys are crazy, collars are awesome.

FOUND! striped polo shirts with collars. The stripes are horizontal but you gotta admit that's pretty darn close.

I have no problem with collars. I'm wearing one right now. But sometimes I just want a t-shirt. With stripes. And no collar. Why is this so impossible for people to understnad?!?!?!?

Froogling striped tees

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 15 September 2005 07:05 (twenty years ago)

Most of them seem to be for babies.

Which reminds me. I used to have a stripey T-shirt and one day i my mid-20s my sister looked at it and told me it was time to start wearing less kiddy clothes.

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 15 September 2005 07:07 (twenty years ago)

Yes, but if you'd been wearing the same one since your 13th birthday...?

Laurel (Laurel), Thursday, 15 September 2005 12:15 (twenty years ago)

It had been given to me by a friend for my 20th or possibly even 21st birthday!

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 15 September 2005 12:48 (twenty years ago)

You have to look in thrift shops. Who wants to pay J Crew prices anyway? It's not like you just need ONE!

Beth Parker (Beth Parker), Thursday, 15 September 2005 13:12 (twenty years ago)

Wow, that second pic is like the least cool look ever for them.

I like the early sixties "scorpio rising" biker style t-shirts as worn here by pigpen of the grateful dead and at least one member of every garage band since
