No, we're constantly striving for new lows. We have reached the lowest of the low.

nathalie (stevie nixed), Thursday, 15 September 2005 10:12 (twenty years ago)

Better than 10 threads on Aja.

Come Back Johnny B (Johnney B), Thursday, 15 September 2005 10:12 (twenty years ago)

Who rained on your message board?

Onimo (GerryNemo), Thursday, 15 September 2005 10:13 (twenty years ago)

10 threads on wet, milky potatoes

g-kit (g-kit), Thursday, 15 September 2005 10:15 (twenty years ago)

I mean, we haven't reached... duh.

nathalie (stevie nixed), Thursday, 15 September 2005 10:17 (twenty years ago)

We passed rock bottom five years ago. How low can we go.

Anyway, umbrellas are infinitely fascinating.

Pete (Pete), Thursday, 15 September 2005 10:19 (twenty years ago)

I can't remember where you stand on umbrellas, pete.

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 15 September 2005 10:21 (twenty years ago)

Surely you stand *under* umbrellas, not on them!

The Brocade Fire (kate), Thursday, 15 September 2005 10:22 (twenty years ago)

They go up, they come down, they keep you dry (ish) and they come in many colours.

the end.

not-goodwin (not-goodwin), Thursday, 15 September 2005 10:23 (twenty years ago)

BUT ARE THEY CAMP?!?!

Crackity (Crackity Jones), Thursday, 15 September 2005 10:32 (twenty years ago)

I wrote a poem when I was about twelve called "Sea of Umbrellas".

I can only remember the first line - 'This city, from above, is a sea of umbrellas'.

I wish I could think what the rest of it was and if the next line was made to rhyme. I doubt it.

Rumpie, Thursday, 15 September 2005 10:44 (twenty years ago)

Can I be the first to say "umbrellas are the shit"?

Hello Sunshine (Hello Sunshine), Thursday, 15 September 2005 10:47 (twenty years ago)

This city, from above, is a sea of umbrellas
They form shelter for ladies, and shelter for fellas

Hello Sunshine (Hello Sunshine), Thursday, 15 September 2005 10:49 (twenty years ago)

Sorted. Can anyone recommend a decent publishing house?

Rumpie, Thursday, 15 September 2005 10:53 (twenty years ago)

Umbrella Publishing

Onimo (GerryNemo), Thursday, 15 September 2005 10:56 (twenty years ago)

Umbrella Publishing C/D?

Rumpie, Thursday, 15 September 2005 10:58 (twenty years ago)

They've published one book. Written by the founder of the company. Featuring Princess Sarah Ferguson's and Donald Trump's recollections of 9/11.

I say classic.

Onimo (GerryNemo), Thursday, 15 September 2005 11:03 (twenty years ago)

I shall submit the poem.

Rumpie, Thursday, 15 September 2005 11:13 (twenty years ago)

so is this the 10th or 11th thread on umbrellas then?

teeny (teeny), Thursday, 15 September 2005 11:42 (twenty years ago)

and only the third about thread about umbrellas

Britain's Obtusest Shepherd (Alan), Thursday, 15 September 2005 11:43 (twenty years ago)

Umbrella threads are one of the more redeeming facets of this quagmire.

I'd rather have a "You and your umbrella" thread than "post pictures of yourself in your underwear" to be honest with ya.

PRUDEY SQUARE

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Thursday, 15 September 2005 15:35 (twenty years ago)

tho if people were to post pics of themselves in their underwear whilst wielding umbrellas, that would be the zenith.

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Thursday, 15 September 2005 15:37 (twenty years ago)

I'll always be the one against.

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 15 September 2005 15:40 (twenty years ago)

an inverted zenith, perhaps.

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 15 September 2005 15:43 (twenty years ago)

I think Alba did very well at ILE today and I for one learned something new.

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Thursday, 15 September 2005 15:44 (twenty years ago)

i think the mods should mark every thread out of 10 and add comments like "see me" etc

Britain's Obtusest Shepherd (Alan), Thursday, 15 September 2005 15:45 (twenty years ago)

I'm not sure I did so well.

What did you learn, stevem?

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 15 September 2005 15:47 (twenty years ago)

I learnt that Alba doesn't know where Pete stands on umbrellas.

*shrug*

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 15 September 2005 15:48 (twenty years ago)

I also learnt that Alba has a multitude of opinions re: umbrellas, and this marks him out as a thinker. And I therefore apologise for the slightly sarcastic tone of my previous transmission.

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 15 September 2005 15:54 (twenty years ago)

I think that might be the nicest thing anyone has ever said about me.

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 15 September 2005 15:57 (twenty years ago)

What's the deal with this Super Furry Animals ninnie squad that has taken over ILM?

(and this is coming from a longtime SFA fan, who really likes the new album!)

donut Get Behind Me Carbon Dioxide (donut), Thursday, 15 September 2005 16:33 (twenty years ago)

I need an umbrella for all the union of wank coming from the bedrooms of SFA fans gushing over the new album.. it's sick!

donut Get Behind Me Carbon Dioxide (donut), Thursday, 15 September 2005 16:42 (twenty years ago)

Alba, what I learned today was independent of your monkey shines.

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Thursday, 15 September 2005 16:44 (twenty years ago)

eleven months pass...
i just fucking lost my umbrella, on the bus.

Bashment Jakes (Enrique), Thursday, 24 August 2006 08:44 (nineteen years ago)

schoolboy error

Konal Doddz (blueski), Thursday, 24 August 2006 08:49 (nineteen years ago)

so much so. even as i got on, i thought to myself, 'you will lose your umbrella'.

Bashment Jakes (Enrique), Thursday, 24 August 2006 08:50 (nineteen years ago)

What's the rule on finding an umbrella?

A little while ago, I was on a tube train, and a fiorucci umbrella was hanging from a rail by the doors, central. It was obviously no-ones, but I left it. How much is one of those things anyway?

Jonbenet Ramsey's parents were "under an umbrella of suspicion."

Beth Parker (Beth Parker), Thursday, 24 August 2006 22:39 (nineteen years ago)

Leave an umbrella, take an umbrella is my motto.

Euai Kapaui (tracerhand), Thursday, 24 August 2006 22:52 (nineteen years ago)

I owned an umbrella for three days once but it broke and I never got another. I enjoy walking unprotected through heavy rain anyway; watching others scurry about for shelter gives me a vicariously inflated sense of self-worth, as I make myself believe that I honestly can face up to the elements without qualm. Secretly, though, I'm really rather wishing I had an umbrella too. Alack.

Scourage (Haberdager), Thursday, 24 August 2006 22:58 (nineteen years ago)

you lack scourage of your sconvictions.

estela (estela), Friday, 25 August 2006 00:04 (nineteen years ago)

I used to go through umbrellas like kleenex, a new one every winter, then suddenly I got one that has lasted 15 years now.

I'm sure I just jinxed it.

Danny Aioli (Rock Hardy), Friday, 25 August 2006 01:21 (nineteen years ago)

I got one. Never use it. But at least I still have it!

jim wentworth (wench), Friday, 25 August 2006 02:25 (nineteen years ago)

wait, you make one kleenex last all winter?

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Friday, 25 August 2006 14:01 (nineteen years ago)

if anyone ever came across an umbrella hung on the back of a chair in starbucks in downtown ny around christmas last year. that was mine.

Ste (Fuzzy), Friday, 25 August 2006 14:09 (nineteen years ago)
