My airline rewards program is a pimp and I am its whore

Ever since I managed to capture "elite" status on Continental one year through excessive business travel, I have been a addict. I can't live without the upgrades and the special blue carpeted lines at the airport, even though I suspect I have paid handsomly for these miniscule perks.

Am I the only one who will buy the more expensive plane ticket, make extra stops, and refuse to fly another airline just to pickup the frequent flyer mileage?

Oh my christ. And I thought the iPod lounge was bad.

Ah feel yore pain. . .although being in CLE non-RJ flights are few and far between, thus no upgrade possibilities. I do draw the line at taking non-direct flights to pick up extra miles/segments though -- just get me there/back as quickly as possible.

Flyertalk is a great board -- check the archives for all the abuse CO took when the old regime rolled out those blue carpets while simultaneously making cuts to OnePass.

I just booked a flight to Berlin and had to use KLM. Luckily it's star alliance and all that. I'll miss the blue carpets and the fruit plate in biz class, tho. This prompted me to see what airline is actually ranked highest in service. Lots of asian airlines came up. The top appears to be Cathay Pacific. Hmm, I wonder what's so good about them.
