Mind you, you could say the same about Brockenhurst (little more than a village in the New Forest) having not only hourly trains to London, but also regular trains to Manchester, Newcastle, Edinburgh etc.

I'm sure it does serve all the New Forest, what's known as a "railhead". Just weird for such a small place to have trains to the capitals of England and Scotland every day.
Isn't Ribblehead on the Settle and Carlisle? I've done that journey, 12 years ago. In fact I'm reminded it was probably the exact day that the episode of "Interceptor" I just recorded off Challenge TV was originally shown. Or whatever.
