I take it you are from Ireland right? Have you ever heard of the Lords of the table? If so please answer.

Gale Deslongchamps, Friday, 21 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I have heard Lords of Acid. *moan grunt sigh*

helenfordsdale, Saturday, 22 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I am from Ireland but have no recollection of ever hearing about Lords of the table.

DV, Saturday, 22 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I was just wondering about it. It just interests me thanks .

Gale Deslongchamps, Saturday, 22 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Nult In My Name (Local Garda), Tuesday, 29 March 2011 23:22 (fourteen years ago)

so are you going to answer gales question?

max, Wednesday, 30 March 2011 00:19 (fourteen years ago)

I still feel bad for revealing to Gale (on another thread) that Chris De Burgh once committed adultery.

The New Dirty Vicar, Wednesday, 30 March 2011 09:57 (fourteen years ago)

i don't know the answer max. i've laid awake at night wondering who the lords of the table are, or when they might toss me a crumb, or if they even exist at all.

Packie Bonner (Local Garda), Wednesday, 30 March 2011 10:02 (fourteen years ago)

He plays the innocent, but how does a picture of him come to prominently feature on every page of the website of this shadowy organisation?

Alba, Wednesday, 30 March 2011 10:12 (fourteen years ago)

one year passes...

ronan did i see you in the holborn whippet last night?

caek, Saturday, 8 December 2012 07:59 (thirteen years ago)

you did indeed, that was me! i didn't think you were living in london. went on a bit of a pub crawl of the good beer places around there last night, exmouth arms, the queen's head, that new longroom place, and finally holborn whippet. not a bad little pub.

Heterocyclic ring ring (LocalGarda), Saturday, 8 December 2012 09:11 (thirteen years ago)

ha, i knew it! i was half cut, so i wasn't sure (and i would have made a v bad first impression in any case). spent basically the whole day in the public bar there. good times.

caek, Sunday, 9 December 2012 04:45 (thirteen years ago)

You missed the Craft Beer Co out of that crawl!

I like the beer at the Holborn Whippet more than the pub itself, that converted Sicilian Avenue sandwich bar doesn't really lend itself to group drinking very well. The beer selection is obviously great though.

Matt DC, Sunday, 9 December 2012 11:46 (thirteen years ago)

It'll be terrific in summer when you can spill out onto the avenue.

Matt DC, Sunday, 9 December 2012 11:46 (thirteen years ago)

yeah we skipped craft beer co just as it's kinda pricey. the whippet is extremely good value relative to its local peers, in that regard. definitely agree about the room, it's very basic. is the food any good?

Heterocyclic ring ring (LocalGarda), Sunday, 9 December 2012 11:56 (thirteen years ago)

also caek, i too was fairly wasted, perhaps another more sober time we can meet!

Heterocyclic ring ring (LocalGarda), Sunday, 9 December 2012 12:05 (thirteen years ago)

They have half-decent burgers but I wouldn't make any special trip to eat there.

Matt DC, Sunday, 9 December 2012 12:14 (thirteen years ago)

yeah the food is ok. only one veggie option (halloumi sandwich). the chips are good. beer was excellent. i had a great many half pints. it was recommended by a friend (i was just passing through the UK and wanted somewhere central).

i was meeting about 20 people, and the public bar (which is basically a room with space for 50 and about 6 stools) is perfect for that sort of thing. the street does look like it will be good in nice weather
