La Musica De La Jess

hey! look what wasn't destroyed in the great harddrive crash of sept...some of my own personal musical creations. i don't really "do" this sort of thing anymore (lack of time, support, interest, etc.) but here's a little blast from my semi-recent past: it's that newfangled glitch stuff.

I really like it Jess, though to my mind it more closely resembles a concept track about jumping in puddles wearing gumboots than a Jan Jelinek track per se.

heh. at least i know i uploaded the right track. actually, i think that the "percussion" was my lame attempt to coax a "house rhythm" outta rain/water samples. (keep in mind this was prolly recorded in 99.) like most things i tried to do then i couldn't get the dynamics or rhythms right for "proper" dance music or even most idm. (i.e. my "jungle" tracks which sounded even more spastic than squarepusher and noisier than dj scud. in otherwords, like crap.)

I will have a listen, when I have access to computer con sound.

hi jess, yeah i listened to that tune (your link inspired lots of nasty bits of real i made the mistake of installing pop up automatically, but the tune made it to my machine so i shan't whine). glitchy stuff rules, be it newfangled or otherwise. i'm really into ploppy squelchy filter envelope sounds with a clicky over rhythm and steady bass line, so i liked it. have you heard the early nineties album weathered well by locust? it is on apollo. similar stuff, i would say.

i think therefore i am ambient.

This reminds me of a Ken Ishii track called "Sponge". It's like the Nile River got flooded with mud and the listener is in Predator-vision. Then leap frogs.

I am now going to put this on my walkman, wander around deserted central london alone in the dark (apart from the Eastern European men offering to help carry my bags or take me for a meal somewhere), then collapse in a gibbering affeared heap in the gutter. Wish me luck.
