An external hard-drive. 250 gigabytes. Yum yum.

Some pregnancy clothes cause my belly's expanding on a daily basis.

Some books. One on European history and two trashy detective novels. I can't even remember the titles of the books. Hmmm.

Haven't bought anything for ages apart from books and music and food; the big purchases will have to wait until Xmas. My mum's birthday is on 8 December so I have to buy two loads of presents for her (and Laura's was on the 5th so that was a month I had to save up for in the past) but then mine is in January so it works both ways.

The last thing I bought was a DVD of the Flumps in the HMV sale for four quid, as a bit of cheap nonsense to cheer Isabel up. It cheered her up in the sense that we enjoyed realising how dreadful and free of nostalgic energy the Flumps were. After 20 minutes it had done its job and we put it away to be donated to my work charity auction where another sucker will give it a good home.

Today: webcam thingy
Recently: Laura Veirs cd, Go! Team cd, Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy dvd.
Not for myself: a replacement hot-swap PSU for an IBM eServer.

(people actually *buy* Linux?)

Forest Pines (ForestPines), Tuesday, 20 September 2005 12:25 (twenty years ago)

Yay! You also bought a webcam! I feel very silly. But I figured it'd be great for when the baby's here. I can show the baby to my parents. :-) They're almost never in Belgium but I want them to see the baby.

Marcello, I looked for the ROBYN CD. Figured if I could find an official one, I'd send you that. But alas it'll have to be a burned copy. :-( I'll try sending it this week. :-)

nathalie (stevie nixed), Tuesday, 20 September 2005 12:27 (twenty years ago)

I was looking in a certain second-hand record shop over the weekend and I found an album by "Robyn" going for £4. On closer inspection though, it was a 1997 album by some blonde Swedish pop wannabe and nothing to do with The Actual Robyn bah.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Tuesday, 20 September 2005 12:29 (twenty years ago)

no I didn't buy it.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Tuesday, 20 September 2005 12:30 (twenty years ago)

Ah yes! I know that one! I promise I'll send it, Marcello. It's really good! :-)

I haven't bought anything for ages. I bought that Anthony & the JOhnsons CD 2 months ago and haven't gone back to ANY shop since. If I never buy anything, why do I still have no money? This isn't fair.

Come Back Johnny B (Johnney B), Tuesday, 20 September 2005 12:32 (twenty years ago)

Mine isn't a nice chrome Apple-style one, but it *does* look like something from a Star Wars movie.

Feels like I've been broke for a dog's age, but when all debts are paid I think I'll go a bit nuts with the shopping. Mmmm, shopping....

Laurel (Laurel), Tuesday, 20 September 2005 12:33 (twenty years ago)

Tom I think you should document your digitised Flumps experience on DYS.

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Tuesday, 20 September 2005 12:34 (twenty years ago)

Strangely enough, that Apres Ski Top 100 box set which I did purchase at the weekend has proved something of an education apropos 40 years of vaguely naff Benelux pop. A world where James Last oddly still counts for more than the Beatles.

"Honkie Tonkie Pianissie" may have been before your time, Nath, but it is a truly remarkable record...

i do, nobody else i know has it so i can't copy it off anybody. and forget trying to download it on dial up

Ste (Fuzzy), Tuesday, 20 September 2005 12:37 (twenty years ago)

If you're still on dialup, fair enough. SuSE is a bit of a rip-off though.

Forest Pines (ForestPines), Tuesday, 20 September 2005 12:38 (twenty years ago)

yeah you're right but i seem to have problems with red hat or mandrake, i got those free but they seem to crash or don't like my graphics card

Ste (Fuzzy), Tuesday, 20 September 2005 12:39 (twenty years ago)

Hmmm. What sort of graphics card is it?

Forest Pines (ForestPines), Tuesday, 20 September 2005 12:40 (twenty years ago)

A new bathroom. At least I don't smell as bad now.

Billy Dods (Billy Dods), Tuesday, 20 September 2005 12:42 (twenty years ago)

Mine isn't a nice chrome Apple-style one, but it *does* look like something from a Star Wars movie.

Yeah, I know that iSIGHT looks really nice. It was also easy to install: plug and frigging play. But I love yours as well! Star Wars indeed!

nathalie (stevie nixed), Tuesday, 20 September 2005 12:52 (twenty years ago)

Ask me next week, after I get paid.

The Brocade Fire (kate), Tuesday, 20 September 2005 12:55 (twenty years ago)

it's an old geforce nvidia thing, not sure on the spec because it was probly about 4 years ago that i bought it. mandrake just refuses to put up a gui on it, red hat just hates anything i plug in. at least with suse it recognised everything and has lots of luverly applications, it looks gorge as well.

Ste (Fuzzy), Tuesday, 20 September 2005 12:57 (twenty years ago)

I bought a Leatherman Wave, a new hat and some russian naval underwear before camp. They all worked out pretty well although the russian Naval thermals could have been warmer.
