What's this hang-up with eating dogs?

Benjamin, Saturday, 22 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I mean, I do find it repellent, because of the social place of pets in my part of the world. Brigette Bardot doesn't like it, but she would empty out my huevos con chorizo tomorrow morning if I let her get away with it. The whole "tenderizing" process turns my stomach. But should the possibility of unpleasant surprises for some naive football supporters next summer result in the pasting the nice Koreans are taking in the media?

Look pal, dogs are cute, granted. Their cuteness and charisma and all-around lovability has gotten them more sacred a status in America than other animals, thus making them more unacceptable to grub on. Over here though, we live life like "fuck it!", so we're equal-op carnivores, nawmean? We eat pooches at parties! (yeah yeah!) Wash it down with Bacardi! (yeah yeah!) Just last week I was at a wedding and out broke a b-boy circle. The week prior to this I had dusted off my old Rocksteady Crew videos and had been practicing in my dining room (no chairs = more space) so I was more than up to it. As I launched into a headspin, people read my upside-down headband which I fashioned from an old Snoop Doggy Dogg t-shirt with the "Snoop" crossed out and replaced with "Eat". How you living?

Naw, kid! That's a myth plain and simple. When I throw mass weddings, one of my unbreakable stipulations is that every flower in every boquet is made of pure rib eye. The dogmeat comes later, after the Bushwick Bill & Shania Twain duet. At all other times, yes, we're veg to the max. Now you know.

You know, I'd really be afraid of getting distemper or parvo virus... I'll stay with veggies thanks!

There's an alley in Hanoi which is famous for dog, I had the Dog 7 Ways at one of the more reputable places.
