I'd say global farming subsidies have nothing to do with the fact that the last Daft Punk album fell way below par. Or the poor quality of the current heavyweight division in boxing.

Can't gainsay his suggestions with authority, since they haven't been tried yet. It is the case, though, that nowhere on the planet at any time in the past 200 years has farming been dependably profitable or effectively integrated into an industrialized nation's economy without subsidization or central control. (And, often, not even then.)
