james, Tuesday, 25 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Oh and any other post-christmas eats!!!

james, Tuesday, 25 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Sangers = good. But if you are eating them on Christmas Day it means you have not eaten enough dinner and have therefore committed error.

RickyT, Tuesday, 25 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I'm feeling hungry still! Warm mince pies and custard to come!

james, Tuesday, 25 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

MONKEY BREAD is classic for Christmas breakfast, and EASY MAC for Christmas lunch, and YUMMY ARMENIAN FOOD for Christmas dinner.

Maria, Tuesday, 25 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

What is this EASY MAC of which you speak?

RickyT, Tuesday, 25 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

You buy it at the store, and it's got two packets of foil. One has noodles which you put in the microwave and the other has orange powder that goes on the noodles. It's heaven. My dad did tons of cooking and I love it all but Easy Mac still has my loyalty.

maira, Tuesday, 25 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

It sounds like the eeevil Pot Noodle.

RickyT, Tuesday, 25 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

As half the house is vegetarians (of varying degree and conviction), my parents take it upon themselves to cook weird things as a treat, which I of course refuse, thus, hurrah, freeing me from leftovers. I am EVIL.

Graham, Tuesday, 25 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

My brother and my brother-in-law made macaroni and cheese from scratch yesterday. It was really good, esp. cos they baked it. I guess that's not very traditional (for Christmas), but it's not 'weird'(=cool) either.

youn, Tuesday, 25 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

"turkey sandwiches" is part of the Interchangeable Rainy Shorthand. It can mean anything, except actual turkey sandwiches, which I have no liking for.

rainy, Tuesday, 25 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

not classic, not dud, just lunch

no actually very classic, toasted bread saladcream and mustard salad, onions salt and pepper, very good, unfortunately my gran has no salad cream

Ed, Wednesday, 26 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

you put the foil in the microwave?

mike hanle y, Wednesday, 26 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Just had one, a replacement for the usual chicken. It wasn't too bad, all told.

Ally C, Wednesday, 26 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Salad cream is PUS but in a JAR. Yeucch.

The perfect turkey sandwich is on toast with mayo and lettuce, with some stuffing (see Thanksgiving stuffing recipe) and maybe some crispy bacon. Make sure there is some well-done turkey skin from the full- baste section of your bird.

Or what the hell, just install a salt lick in your back yard and go to it.

What is this turkey curry thing?

suzy, Wednesday, 26 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

What is this salad cream thing?

Sean, Wednesday, 26 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Basically my dad puts turkey and vegetables and spices in a pot and stews it up, sometimes it's hot, sometimes it's not!

james, Wednesday, 26 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I made turkey curry today. It has to be thick otherwise it's disgusting. like all curry actually.

Ronan, Wednesday, 26 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

best post turkey thing is to boil a ham and make turkey ham and stuffing lasagna, layer of turkey, pasta, ham, pasta, stuffing, pasta cranberry suace. bechamel made from ham boiling juice and turkey fat and any left over gravy etc.

suzy, i will convince you on the salad cream thing, it has its place

another james, Wednesday, 26 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Turkey and Mayonnaise on two slices of white bread = Classic. Too bad for Sam, she hates Moyo and White bread. I am white, but not white bread, thank you. Just in case that takes another meaning.

Hank, Wednesday, 26 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I just had one. Num. I am a big fatty fatty fat fat fatty.

Salad cream might as well be mayonnaise it is so gross. SHUN IT.

Sarah, Wednesday, 26 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I'm so bored I might make one. Alone and drunk on the interweb. Does anyone else feel the need to eat when bored?

Ronan, Wednesday, 26 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

for jams above read ED

Ed, Wednesday, 26 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Used to hate it, til I ate it! I get the "Latin" mayonaise, which has chili peppers in it (fairly mild). With turkey on crusty white bread is heaven.

nickn, Thursday, 27 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Salad cream is nothing I will ever be convinced by. Imagine if you liked double cream and some fucker foisted Elmlea on you.

suzy, Thursday, 27 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

we didn't have all that much left over from christmas lunch, apart from some cabbage that will be making its way into bubble and squeak, some mince pies and pud that will be generally munched and some veggie thing that i made with puff pastry. there is also a goose carcass with orange peel and prunes up its bum that i shall of course be shunning. no leftover spuds chiz CHIZ!

katie, Thursday, 27 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

it is THE LAW in our house that any leftover things are fried and eaten the next day. fried cooked potatoes are the best, fried xmas pud is also yum, not sure about the rest!

katie, Thursday, 27 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I ate no meat over Christmas, I was sorely tempted by mum's sausagemeat balls but no, I resisted manfully. There weren't many leftovers but Mum still managed to put me onto the coach with mince pies and lovely not sausage rolls.

Suzy, salad cream is a fine substance in it's place and that is when combined with white bread, butter and tomatoes, a prince of sandwiches.

and my mum's stuffing is the bestest (especially the next day) boiled onions, sage, day old bread mixed toggether with some oil then put in the oven, gooey and crunchy at the same time, bloody marvellous.

chris, Thursday, 27 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Salad cream is OF DEMONS. Do not glorify in such travesties of cuisine

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 27 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

eight years pass...

You know what is really AWESOME on a turkey sandwich? a 1/4 inch slice of brie cheese. It's heaven.
