Let's just say you could vote for one of these dudes. Who would you pick, and why?

Alan Alda is a bleeding-heart lesion liberal who would let all the towelheads come into America and turn us into an Islamic dictatorship, allow gay marriage, and let all those Californians have as many abortions as they like. NO WAY!

Jimmy Smits, being a respected police offier, gets my vote.

I for one welcome our new troll

Get back to me once they finally get round to showing Season 6 of the West Wing on UK TV (coming soon to a crappy cable channel near you).

Current answer = still Martin Sheen.

I saw the assend of last night's episode - the first bit of nu-West Wing I've seen in a while. How's the show holding up?

That's "ass end", BTW.

Pretty good. Modest shark unjumping. But I hope this is the final season.

M. V. (M.V.), Monday, 3 October 2005 18:27 (twenty years ago)

Do you mean they reversed their previous shark jumps, or just avoided jumping over more sharks? I heard there was some "CJ IS TEH GAY" subplot, the notion of which just makes me weep almost as much as actually suffering through the "CJ IS DATING TEH RANGER RICK" subplot.

I am also upset that they effed up the Leo / Josh relationship, AND the Toby / Will relationship. In other news, John Wells is a dookiestain.

I mean that this season is good enough that one might consider offering partial amnesty for the recent idiotic plots, subplots and story arcs to which you refer.

Not a full pardon, however.

M. V. (M.V.), Monday, 3 October 2005 18:50 (twenty years ago)

The premiere was pretty good (if hard and fast, very un-WW), the second ep was just kind of boring. No wit at all, terrible terrible Janeane Garofalo role. I'll keep watching, the campaigns are interesting (and campaign eps were often the best part of the first years) even as the actual West Wing plots get dumb and dumber.

Santos is a terrible character with little or no depth, the ultimate idealized Democrat. He's a minority! A military hero! A fighter for the common man! A liberal, but strong on defense! Oooh-ra!

Hawkeye is very Presidential (although, yes, an idealized macho but principled Republican - like someone thawed Ike out from 1953 and shit) much like Sheen before they went all paralyzed-cripple. I figure it would be a cold day in hell before they completely swapped casts to put him in office, but a Vinick West Wing could be very interesting if they get a good supporting cast (make Jimmy James permanent, dammit).
