He was purely an L.A. area phenomenon.. just like Wally George.. but I miss this David Horowitz (as opposed to the other one being discussed.)

Remember the time the one dude drew a gun on him during a live broadcast in the regular news studio? I have to say he handled it well.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 4 October 2005 17:14 (twenty years ago)

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Tuesday, 4 October 2005 17:14 (twenty years ago)

Bill Gates, David Koresh, it's a popular look...

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 4 October 2005 17:15 (twenty years ago)

not an LA thing, though! i saw him all the time thanks to my buffalo-network affiliate feed. us canadians love FIGHTING BACK!

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Tuesday, 4 October 2005 17:15 (twenty years ago)

This is maybe the catchiest theme song ever.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 4 October 2005 17:15 (twenty years ago)

It's also about 15 minutes LONG!!!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 4 October 2005 17:18 (twenty years ago)

lest we forget MICHAEL J. FOX - a warrior through time

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Tuesday, 4 October 2005 17:22 (twenty years ago)

This is reminding me of Skip Stephenson:

I was gonna say, I remember watching this when I was young!

The Ghost of Black Elegance (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 4 October 2005 17:26 (twenty years ago)

OK, time for some serious "Fight Back" remixes... although they will never touch the original.

donut hallivallerieburtonelli omg lol (donut), Tuesday, 4 October 2005 17:26 (twenty years ago)

You guys never got Wally George, though, right?

(If you did, my head is going to explode.)

donut hallivallerieburtonelli omg lol (donut), Tuesday, 4 October 2005 17:27 (twenty years ago)

Definitely a classic part of LA history as donut said.
And Wally George! Forgot all about him! The bad comb-over militant right-winger. Father to.... Rebecca DeMornay.

Wiggy (Wiggy), Tuesday, 4 October 2005 17:27 (twenty years ago)

My brother wrote them a letter when he was three complaining that girls wouldn't chase him even though he was wearing his le Tigre shirt (like in their ads). They read it on air and sent him an XL t-shirt in red with FIGHT BACK in big white letters.

wmlynch (wlynch), Tuesday, 4 October 2005 17:29 (twenty years ago)

donut, your head is safe - i've never heard of wally george...

My mom typed the letter for him. He was so pissed off that the girls wouldn't chase him. Haha. And the shirt they sent him (he was 3 years old!) dragged on the floor when he put it on. I think he still has it somewhere.

wmlynch (wlynch), Tuesday, 4 October 2005 17:42 (twenty years ago)

my dad, who almost never swore, used to call him "david horseshit".

dan (dan), Tuesday, 4 October 2005 18:58 (twenty years ago)

Wow! I used to watch the show with my dad - he's an armchair consumer advocate!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 4 October 2005 19:05 (twenty years ago)

Why isn't this David Horowitz being nominated for the Supreme Court? He would definitely speak for the people.

donut hallivallerieburtonelli omg lol (donut), Tuesday, 4 October 2005 19:15 (twenty years ago)

Thje Wild thind was when I found out that DAVID HOROWITZ was a friend of HUEY NEWTON of the Black Panther Party and was one of the idiots (along with CIA rat agent Elaine Brown) helped convince Huey to admitting himself to the FORD clinic and became addicted to Methadone. F him.

Mr Godwell, Tuesday, 4 October 2005 22:01 (twenty years ago)

one year passes...
other david horowitz, dude.

Amateur(ist) (Amateur(ist)), Saturday, 13 January 2007 20:35 (eighteen years ago)

aww, man, i was such a nerd for this show when i was a kid. it's so "carwash change thief action squad."

GOD PUNCH TO HAWKWIND (yournullfame), Sunday, 14 January 2007 07:13 (eighteen years ago)

yeah, it was a good show. i watched it whenever i was visiting the grandparents. and the show's theme song is way better than it has any right to be.

Amateur(ist) (Amateur(ist)), Sunday, 14 January 2007 07:39 (eighteen years ago)

i remember he brought on a former car thief who showed off his m.o. Smashed the window with his elbow and grabbed all the shit he could! I think they even timed him, he did like 10 cars in 30 seconds or something similiarly mindblowing. Don't know what the point was--get equipped with bulletproof glass?

tremendoid (tremendoid), Sunday, 14 January 2007 08:29 (eighteen years ago)

I also remember an inordinate amount of time being devoted to showing how shitty padlocks were. He tested the 'bulletproof' claims of the various brands and everything. Dude wasn't happy unless you felt at least 99% vulnerable at all times.

tremendoid (tremendoid), Sunday, 14 January 2007 08:32 (eighteen years ago)

classic, obv. Cool quasi-lisp too.
