why don't you just e-mail him? I think these kind of public "are you OK?" threads are intrusive. If I was not OK I would completely flip if I saw a thread drawing attention to my not-OKness.

It wasn't stupid. I never find it *stupid* to ask after someone's state of mind (or health). You're concerned, nothing to feel embarassed about. I wouldn't flip out, I would appreciate it actually. :-) But like DV said, just email him. If he doesn't appreciate the email, he can just delete it. :-)

well thank you very much whoever you are.

my boss has just stomped off to Trust Management to plead (or maybe even threaten!) my case so i may get a reprieve here but i'm still looking for other things 'cos i can't rely on just that. bless her for standing up for me though.

there are other confusing emotional issues going on with me at the moment (and this is where canada comes into the equation) but these can only be sorted out in the fullness of time and experience.

well my lovely agency has found me a new job, so i'm off to the directorate of surgery at hammersmith hospital as of next week. east acton is admittedly not quite as picturesque as hampstead, and not appreciably easier or quicker to get to from streatham, but the hammersmith trust is a trust i know back to front and it will be nice to return there and look up old friends and colleagues again.

so a happy ending! :-)
