How do you woo?

Wooing stories, please. Fabulous tales of how you won the heart, or just the attention, of a desired one. Tales of wooing in vain also acceptable.

The best I can manage is that I wormed my way into one delightful lady's affections by 'breakdancing' to The Thong Song. I was drunk, she - I can only assume - was drunker. But it was the beginning of a beautiful friendship nonetheless.

Aw.

I wrote a girl a story in a series of instalments. She was away from home and lonely. It all started because she complained she never got any post. It all ended beautifully.

Aw, bless.

I have to grasp the nettle and face uncomfortable facts - my Poptimism dancing style is never going to woo a maiden, fair or unfair.

I completely failed to woo the object of my affections last night and am feeling wretched as a result.

leigh (leigh), Thursday, 6 October 2005 11:01 (twenty years ago)

clumsily and against my will, most of the time.

I have a similar tale to Matt's, about being wooed by letter.

The Bloke and I were casual college friends, and when I went off travelling the world after graduation he asked me to keep in touch. Thus began a five year across-the-world letter-writing friendship which deepened into love and marriage. We never actually went on a date together, as such - eventually I just flew back to the UK and married him. He said that after the first six months of us writing to each other, he'd made up his mind that I was the girl for him and that it wouldn't have mattered at that point if I had been horribly disfigured in a ghastly accident, because he'd love me for ever anyway.

He's kept every single one of my letters, too. Sweet, huh?

good lord, i'm geting all emotional at work. isn't it nice that these things actually happen in real life? all to often, i think people's experiences are more like the prior two posts.

i once tried to win a girl over by pleading desperately. i wouldn't recommend it at as a tactic.

Lee F# (fsharp), Thursday, 6 October 2005 11:23 (twenty years ago)

I just pester.

Cathy (Cathy), Thursday, 6 October 2005 11:29 (twenty years ago)

A tactic which works well on me.

Aw CJ. I like the cut of his jib.
