I don't know, I think it's going to be a good one.

Why are you trying to combine the two? Winter is wonderful. Xmas is THE TOTAL SUX0R.

Paranoid Spice (kate), Monday, 10 October 2005 17:21 (twenty years ago)

I DONT LIKE EITHER

Homosexual II (Homosexual II), Monday, 10 October 2005 17:21 (twenty years ago)

I like both! In that SoCal = no real winter, so. (The early nights get to me, though.)

Why are you trying to combine the two?

Between now and the end of the year, I see the two as inextricably linked.

I like both, but that's a recent development (i.e. I don't have to go through a winter in London anymore).

or what ned said, sort of.

I miss proper winters. With snow. The greyness of London is a bit depressing. But still, I prefer it to summer because I get to wear jumpers and cardigans and heavy coats.

as far as i'm concerned, christmas is the only thing to look forward to in winter, so i like the idea of looking forward to one as a means not to dread the other. oh, but sledding down hills on trays or jogging on warmish snowy days are worth looking forward to on their own.

I HEART WINTER.

Although, the prospect of winter in Chicago is a little grim after 2 years in Colorado. Quite grim, in fact.

I was in Chicago last xmas. It was FREEEEEEEEEEEEZING!

Lion-O (nordicskilla), Monday, 10 October 2005 17:54 (twenty years ago)

(literally!)

Lion-O (nordicskilla), Monday, 10 October 2005 17:54 (twenty years ago)

Northern California winters are beautiful, though. Even when it rains a lot.

I can't wait for this horrible unseasonable warmth to vanish. Winter is great, I usually love Christmas, but this year it's going to be strange. In times gone by, I'd be writing my Christmas lists right now.

Yeah, but sweaters. Girls in sweaters!!! Which means liberal use of the best euphemism of all time coined by my friend S____ who is getting married next weekend: Sweater kittens!

Meow!

I am a total sucker for Christmas, I have to admit. Snow I love, too, though I want it all to go away around January 1. I miss Minneapolis for that reason . . . and then stop missing it after the holidays. (We don't get snow in Seattle.)

I'm going to buy some kick-ass paratrooper boots this year because no one in my nabe shovels their fucking sidewalks and I need a dogsled to get to the subway -- none of those pointy fashion boots for me. Although you do see them all winter in Soho even on icy cobblestones, which is high-larious.

Laurel (Laurel), Monday, 10 October 2005 17:59 (twenty years ago)

great, I'm getting homesick for no reason at all. thanks, thread!

I look forward to the one or two days of snow we get in March *sigh*

two months pass...
Today, we have "freezing fog". Everything, everywhere, is covered with inch-long crystals of opaque frost, like ghostly whiskers. Christmas lights and neon signs glow fuzzily through this dense mist. It has grown thicker as the morning has progressed and is oddly beautiful.
