Looks like Iger's reported interest in moving forward with new distribution technologies is sincere. Not that most of these things aren't available by torrent already, but that's not something most of our moms play with. ESPN archives seem inevitable etc etc...
I love the future.

if not, there's video out.
Sync, Look and ListenPlaying your iPod is only half the fun. Try filling it with downloads from the iTunes Music Store. Choose from over 2 million songs, 20,000 podcasts, 2,000 music videos or your favorite ABC and Disney television shows, download them to your Mac or PC and sync them to your iPod. Add an optional audio cable to play music from the iPod to your home stereo or use an optional S-video cable with iPod to play VJ on your TV. You can perform the same big-screen feat with iPod photo slideshows. Oh, and you can do it all from across the room using the optional Universal Dock and handy new Apple remote.

The video size/res is scaring me away.
The new ipod is thinner, lighter, and gets better battery life than the one on your desk. It's also a model at the beginning of its object-of-desire cycle rather than the end.
xpost! so, er, what AYN? said then.
And since the price hasn't changed, resale is definitely impacted, so the question has to be: do I want to effectively PAY 50 bucks to keep the old one.
I'm pretty sure the answer is no. There shouldn't be any major issues associated with video, and you've got a 1-year warranty.

Is the fact they use USB - which is also the case for the iPOD Nano - because it's easier for PC users? I heard this, but I don't know if that makes any sense. I can only say that it sucks a bit. USB is slower. I love our Nano more though. Don't really need an iPOD vid just yet. I mean, if I did, we'd have about four iPODs in the house. hah.

INCORRECT.
USB 2.0 goes up to 480Mbps, while FireWire 800 only goes up to 320Mbps.
Of course home computer implementations all achieve different levels of performance, and as late as last May Apple's USB 2 speeds were pathetic compared to both their own FW 800 rate AND x86 USB 2.0.
