Yes, I understand that the Army National Guard will send me information about great new Army National Guard benefits! I also understand that I will be contacted by a recruiter, and that's OK with me!

Unless the ANG spiel involves juggling and hoops of fire, you would have to give me something worth more than $3 to listen to it.

Well, jeez, just invent a name, create some hotmail account, and get three free songs... "America Eats Its Young" by Funkadelic would be a great choice, if it's offered.

I might pay $3 to be brainwashed into an assassin.

The Marine recruiter who plagued me all through high school once tried to tell me about all the great things that would happen if I came down and enlisted, "you know, just for shits and giggles."

And no, I have no idea why I got all my calls from the Marines. I'm barely Navy material.

nabisco (nabisco), Wednesday, 12 October 2005 19:55 (twenty years ago)

Anyway, three free songs is probably better than "shits and giggles." Just giggles would be already, maybe.

I started getting recruiting calls again recently. I guess I'm on the list of people who've been 'in college' so long we're probably never graduating.

Here's the deal: I want FOUR downloads and ONE of them can be your bullshit spiel.

"I guess I'm on the list of people who've been 'in college' so long we're probably never graduating."

I've got a bachelors degree, but took a computer course at the local university and I am back on the Navy's mailing list.

The military recruiting tool I wonder about is the government's appearant subsidising of NASCAR. There is something like a half dozen teams sponsored by the various armed forces, not to mention all of the TV advertising. There is no way that marketing such as this is cost effective.
