How is he not a scientologist? and why is my least favorite morman moran neil labute directing the wicker man? i guess it's better than having him direct the warriors or the fog. or the manchurian candidate. why do people keep shitting all over my favorite movies? Actually, Kal-el is kinda cool.

So where in the US are they going to set the new Wicker Man?

walter kranz (walterkranz), Wednesday, 12 October 2005 23:43 (twenty years ago)

that's a good question. it's being filmed in vancouver. which means: could be anywhere!

scott seward (scott seward), Wednesday, 12 October 2005 23:44 (twenty years ago)

I'm guessing no hot dancing scene either.

walter kranz (walterkranz), Wednesday, 12 October 2005 23:46 (twenty years ago)

That scene was a little incongrous.

Rotgutt (Rotgutt), Wednesday, 12 October 2005 23:48 (twenty years ago)

What else is in that scene?

walter kranz (walterkranz), Wednesday, 12 October 2005 23:53 (twenty years ago)

I saw pictures of the set floating around online somewhere. They're giving the town a sort of old west feel.

It can't be The Wicker Man without gratuitous nudity, or the song Corn Rigs. And there's no way they'd keep that ending.

They should set it on Tangier Island. Maine would work but that'd be too Stephen Kingy.

Plot Summary for
Untitled Oliver Stone/September 11 Project (2006)

In the aftermath of the World Trade Center disaster, hope is still alive. Refusing to bow down to terrorism, rescuers and family of the victims press forward. Their mission of rescue and recovery is driven by the faith that under each piece of rubble, a co-worker, a friend a family member may be found. This is the true story of John McLoughlin and William J. Jimeno, the last two survivors extracted from Ground Zero and the rescuers who never gave up. It's a story of the true heroes of that fateful time in the history of the United States when buildings would fall and heroes would rise, literally from the ashes to inspire the entire human race.

latebloomer (latebloomer), Thursday, 13 October 2005 01:31 (twenty years ago)

At first I misread the kids name as "Ka-Spel", and got all excited. Now I'm sad. Nick Cave is a jerk.

John Justen (johnjusten), Thursday, 13 October 2005 01:51 (twenty years ago)

I wish I could claim that the above typo was intentional wit, but it was the Pabst Blue Ribbon talking...

Can we talk about Leelee Sobieski for a minute here? She is NO Britt Eckland, she's probably not gonna dance naked and even if she did, I wouldn't be dying to see it...HOWEVER -- she does have that slightly inbred look that Willow (The Landlord's Daughter) should have and is kinda sorta attractive. The rest of this remake can suck it. I hope it flops.

Alfred Soto (Alfred Soto), Thursday, 13 October 2005 11:54 (twenty years ago)

Leelee is one of life's great mysteries. How? Why? Not a great actor. Not a compelling actor. Not all that intriguing to look at. Like a Borgnine or a Feldman. Maybe directors just really like that blank slate quality.

scott seward (scott seward), Thursday, 13 October 2005 11:55 (twenty years ago)

Like a Borgnine or a Feldman

I bet you mentioned Feldman because you remembered Borgnine's breakthrough film was "Marty" ... subconciously i mean

Dadaismus (Dada), Thursday, 13 October 2005 11:58 (twenty years ago)

I subconsiously think that the new Wicker Man is going to suck on an epic level.
