Describe your voice. Apparently when I speak English, I sound half german, half english. If I speak in my own language my voice is higher.

Private Eyes, they are watching you! Nu Anzwerzzz

helenfordsdale, Monday, 31 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

i am not really sure what i sound like, only that i don't sound on tape like i sound in my head, and that i *hate* hearing myself sing on tape. and according to RickyT i sing exactly like i speak, so i guess that means i cringe at the sound of my (recorded) voice generally. it's mid-range southern not-posh but not-essesx fairly estuary english i suppose.

so are all you posting kids at work today or what? cos i am and this does not make me happy :(

katie, Monday, 31 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I am having my lunch brake uh. But yes, just like you I am working my phat arse off.
People tell me I have a *media voice.* I used to radio dj. Mucho fun was had by friends and me behind the console.

helenfordsdale, Monday, 31 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

cor blimey you've just reminded me that when i was at Uni i had a radio show and RickyT said i sounded like Jo Whiley! so presumable i must also sing like her. gawd help our band.

katie, Monday, 31 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

yeah, i'm at work...

gareth, Monday, 31 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

*waves to gareth*

katie, Monday, 31 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

*waves back across the empty and desolate plain*

i am eating a chocolate cake, what are you doing? are there many people in?

gareth, Monday, 31 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I have just eaten Hienz pasta shapes on toast, and jam dougnhuts.

I have a slight London accent. I drop H's. I say innit often.

james, Monday, 31 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

i am eating salt and vinegar Wheat Crunchies, not many ppl are in but luckily my grate friends Sal and Tez are here so i can witter to them. the strains of Britney Spears are wafting across from the other side of the office - now there's one voice i could do without!

katie, Monday, 31 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I sound quite posh, though there is a Lahndon twang I only notice when talking to provincials. I singularly failed to inherit any of my father's Italian accent, and I can't even do a passable impression of him speaking. My singing voice is almost identical to Katie's.

Mark C, Monday, 31 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

as proven on many drunken occasions!

katie, Monday, 31 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

well........er.......apparently I sound like Bob Geldoff. I know, life really dealt me a shit hand.

Ronan, Monday, 31 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

And yes I do want AAAAALLLLL your money.

Ronan, Monday, 31 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I have a nasal, flat speaking voice and an unfortunate tendency to mumble. When I sing, the nasal quality is an asset, even if my voice tends to be somewhat light and airy.

Dan Perry, Monday, 31 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I've been told I have a voice for radio (or is that a face?) - regardless, when I'm not paying attention to every sound escaping my mouth, I tend to mumble, slur words together in a polysyllabic orgy, and punctuate my sentences with useless fucking expletives. Supposedly, my voice is very LOUD, too.

David Raposa, Monday, 31 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I think that's Tourette's, Dave. Consult a physician.

Josh, Monday, 31 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I have no idea and am scared of being told.

Graham, Monday, 31 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I apparently mumble a lot. In a low mumur. Then, my laugh is high pitched. I am a human frequency bandwidth.

Gage-o, Monday, 31 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

You talk like a ASS WIPE mang. ;-)

helen, Monday, 31 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Ever since my voice changed, I have been told I have The Perfect Radio Voice, allegedly for its depth and richness and blah blah blah. Complete strangers have told me this after an exchange of one or two sentences, and start asking me where I DJ. Little wonder that I in fact *did* DJ for over a decade. ;-) This also explains the various calumnies brought against me that Howard Stern is my hero. I THINK NOT.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 31 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Chalky. Also, instantly recognizable. One syllable will usually do it for most people I know.

Douglas, Monday, 31 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

In the morning: sexy and somewhat deep. Outside that: the archetypal teen boy in the Simpsons. This is why I lurv laryngitis.

Brian MacDonald, Monday, 31 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I sound just like Harvey Fierstein. No, actually it's deep and soothing and slightly cartoonish. Hal from 2001 meets Phil Hartman.

Arthur, Monday, 31 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I have not too loud of a voice i kind of speak with an accent which is known as the F.B. twang! lol Aw well( Kind of backwoods!

Gale Deslongchamps, Monday, 31 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

To Josh: Fush you, mang.

To Brian: Call me up & tell me to make some special sauce by leaving it out in the sun. DO IT.

David Raposa, Monday, 31 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

eight years pass...

Help! Our singer has a gravelly rasp and sore throat instead of a singing voice and we have a gig on Saturday. I KNOW rest is the only real cure and that forcing things may do further damage etc etc BUT....does anyone know anything that might help get him through the gig? I don't know if it's laryngitis or some other kind of infection, but I think he feels OK apart from a sore throat. Any suggestions would be very helpful. Thanks!
