i think thats it--how did you make fontfinder work?

anthony, Sunday, 23 October 2005 08:02 (twenty years ago)

That's not quite it - the original has serifs on the top of the capital A, for example.

Forest Pines (ForestPines), Sunday, 23 October 2005 08:03 (twenty years ago)

I didn't. I thought it looked like Amasis so just did a Google search. The curse of the graphic designer, but as Forest Pines says, it's not quite the font.

Chewshabadoo (Chewshabadoo), Sunday, 23 October 2005 08:09 (twenty years ago)

and its not free w. my wp. i am using rockwell instead, which is sort of like it

anthony, Sunday, 23 October 2005 08:18 (twenty years ago)

Could I send this to anyone, to see if I got the general idea right?

anthony, Sunday, 23 October 2005 08:55 (twenty years ago)

That's the one:

Perhaps one day there will be a font program with font analysis software that will update it's references from a worldwide database ala iTunes and will accept scanned input like OCR software. There is a website called dafont.com that has a large and well-categorized inventory of free fonts.

Font Buddy, Sunday, 23 October 2005 14:26 (twenty years ago)

"What the font" should do that for you.

this is a good program to help find out what a font is if you're completely unsure. At least I found it helpful a few times.

Gravel Puzzleworth, Sunday, 16 January 2011 01:25 (fifteen years ago)

huh - never seen it before. i couldn't imagine it having alot of applications.

got electrolytes (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Sunday, 16 January 2011 03:02 (fifteen years ago)

ok. so i just saw it on used in a pic in the caves thread. amazing.

got electrolytes (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Sunday, 16 January 2011 03:04 (fifteen years ago)

Bleeding Cowboys would work better if the "blood" effects were randomized. as it is, every "a" has the same spatter pattern as every other "a", which ruins the effect. I have a personal beef against visual displays that are supposed to look handmade or organic but are too lazily and mechanically produced to sustain the illusion.

i probably busted a nut when i was tossing her cookie salad (unregistered), Sunday, 16 January 2011 03:28 (fifteen years ago)

yes. and that's why when you're designing something on your computer you avoid fonts like that or you go balls to the wall and design each character yourself, kids.

can anyone identify this font for me please?

http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/527781_3019466299173_249785750_n.jpg

it's the font used in rolling stone magazine in the mid 80s. i'm scanning tom wolfe's early draft of bonfire of the vanities and getting a few errors when OCRing with omni18 so i figure if i install this font it'll help. failing that is there a way of telling omni18 what each character is so it stops messing them up? main problems are with o and 0, and when a bunch of ms run together.

NI, Saturday, 9 June 2012 18:43 (thirteen years ago)

anyone? never seen this font used online anywhere. is it a mythical lost font

NI, Sunday, 10 June 2012 15:58 (thirteen years ago)

it looks nice, I like fonts with slanty lowercase e, but the closest thing I can think of to it is adobe jensen pro which didn't exist until well after the 80s :/ will your program work if you use a font that's very similar to the original?

salsa shark, Sunday, 10 June 2012 21:12 (thirteen years ago)

Some Rolling Stone fonts were designed by this guy, is it one of these? http://www.typedesign.com/fonts/park.html ?

hmmm Ethnocentric looks like a 1998 drum & bass album cover font, but I'm looking for more of a 1988 prog metal album cover font

jaymc, Thursday, 22 December 2022 00:42 (three years ago)

I think Black Male Records may be more Aachen than Neue Aachen (based on the "C" and the "L") but it may not matter once you get into the bold, heavy variants
