Being back at work TODAY goddamitt. The train ride back in to London last night was exquisitely saddening.

finshed re-reading lord of the rings the other day and came v. close to blubbing like a baby. when in 2003 in the film version the tiny little Elijah Wood and Iam Holm get on that ship i am going to be *inconsolable*.

katie, Wednesday, 2 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

um, inconsolable in an elegant and exquisite way, natch. on second thorts, maybe not elegant - i can't look all that elegant with big red puffy eyes and a streaming nose, blubbing like a fule over FICTIONAL CHARACTERS.

Every time I saw footage of Sydney celebrating the new year my eyes welled up. I still don't know why.

First track off the album referred to in the title of the thread. Most exquisite. Late period Swans also does the trick.

Feeling small and insignificant.

Winding my way home along Mulholland last night, it was very foggy and I could ony see the lights of Hollywood and the Valley through the fog intermittently. I started thinking of Joni Mitchell, Roman Polanski, Cass Elliott, Jack and Angelica, John Holmes and all the little people down below. I'll miss LA.

i am thx guys =P just too summery. the heat gets me all energized and work is slow, so it's an odd combination.

i'm gonna buy a pack of smokes!

Surmounter, Friday, 23 May 2008 01:59 (sixteen years ago) link

I stayed home from work today to just be alone for a while and ponder stuff. I'm supposed to have a great life right now yet I am gettin' sad about dumb things. The other day my bf talked about wanting to buy a house and I shot him down with "we cant afford that" and he got really upset I was all negatory, and now I feel like a tool.

Trayce, Friday, 23 May 2008 02:48 (sixteen years ago) link

I mean fuck! I have a man who wants to buy a house with me! WTF is my DAMAGE.

Trayce, Friday, 23 May 2008 02:48 (sixteen years ago) link

aww... u gotta have the idealist and the NOW person. my bf is already scoping out real estate! we just like, entered the workforce.

Surmounter, Friday, 23 May 2008 02:50 (sixteen years ago) link

hahaha seriously xp ;)

Surmounter, Friday, 23 May 2008 02:50 (sixteen years ago) link

Ya I know rite. I guess its because I'm already 37 and still on a fairly shitty wage (not minimum or anything hell, but it hasnt moved much in almost 8 years), and I never made moves to saving for a deposit, so it all seems so out of reach, I'd resigned myself to it never happening.

I always look on the dark side. I don't know why I do, and I hate myself for that.

Trayce, Friday, 23 May 2008 02:53 (sixteen years ago) link

you look so young! i know, i feel like buying a house is some kind of fantasy. all i want is a basement. one day, i wanna have a basement.

Surmounter, Friday, 23 May 2008 02:55 (sixteen years ago) link

LOL total aside: yesterday my boss was telling me about how he wants a giant series of basements in his house so he'd toyed with the idea of hiring a backhoe and just digging down and down til he made some kind of huge dungeon :D I loved it, it was like fantasy treehouse in reverse.

Trayce, Friday, 23 May 2008 02:57 (sixteen years ago) link

so fun =)

Surmounter, Friday, 23 May 2008 02:58 (sixteen years ago) link

Predictable disappointment. I did this silly test in a book and it basically transpired that I'm a hopeful pessimist.
