jess, Wednesday, 2 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

I'm back and I'm lovin' it. In for 3 and a half hours and barely a stroke of work done. I'm a great believer in 'easing in' after the holidays, don'tcha know?

Tom, Wednesday, 2 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

I'm off till MOnday. Whoopeeee!

DavidM, Wednesday, 2 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

Great. And I find myself covering someone elses job today. Booo. It is DULl and BORING and I do not want to!! I would not mind doing my own job but someone elses is a CHIZ. Oh well good to see the same old miserable faces bah. About two people looked happy to see me, the rest were MIRED in the hell of MEDIOCRITY which is rapidly encroaching upon my happiness. Ohhhhhhh, happiness.

Unemployed. Have been sleeping and wanking. I love it!

Mark C, Wednesday, 2 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

I'm not back till February 7th, ahahaha, ahahaha, muhahahahahahahahah.

I'm actually looking forward to it. Home is driving me slowly mad.

Ronan, Wednesday, 2 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

Unemployed also and I think something has broken in my head. Evidence: stayed up until stupid o'clock in the morning reading mediocre Iron Maiden biography from start to finish, then, upon waking at midday, listened to at least 10 minutes of You and Yours without throwing radio at the wall. Breakfast of coke and crisps. Still wearing the dressing gown of horror and listening to an old Fugazi album.

I don't think I'm going to like the next few weeks.

Heater to the left of me, heater to the right, here I am, stuck in the office with flu.

Trevor, Wednesday, 2 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

Damn you work!Hating every dreary minute of it today and my guts have been rotted by booze.

Jonnie, Wednesday, 2 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

back to work, well i never really left being as how i worked on 27th- 28th December and new Years Eve. it's stlil boring, i'm still spending far too much time on ILE especially as my boss doesn't return till next week. managed to leave the house at 7.30 this morning as per New Year resolution, wonder how long that'll last?

katie, Wednesday, 2 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

I have realized I hate my job over the break.

I was able to spend time much more productively when I was at home, instead of the drinking coffee and looking at the clock shenanigans that tend to be the highlight of the day at work.

Nicole, Wednesday, 2 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

NO-ONE else is here, I don't think. Bad start (ie forgetting to bring disc with ongoing work on it from home) redeemed by me timetabling and planning huge swathes of teaching for next 3 months, getting car insurance sorted out, and finishing The Horrible Paper that Might Have Pre-empted My (so-called) BIg IDea that I was too scared to read properly before Christmas. BUT I have run out of cigarettes and must now leave to work at home.

Ellie, Wednesday, 2 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

i made it into "work" before midday today, which for me is a bit of a record. no undergraduates around, so the whole place feels really empty. it's my birthday today, but it doesn't really feel like it; i think turning 22 may well = not caring about birthdays any more. anyway now i'm off to see my supervisor and feel stupid cos i still don't understand any of the papers i'm supposed to be reading...

toby, Wednesday, 2 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

happy birthday toby g!!!!!! may the beer and food fairy grant your fondest gastronomical desires!

katie, Wednesday, 2 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

Happy Birthday Toby! I have desisted wanking for just long enough to type this, you should be honoured.

(what a great way to introduce myself to someone)

Mark C, Wednesday, 2 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

Happy Birthday. I havent desisted wanking to type this though.

Ronan, Wednesday, 2 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

Back to work! URRGHHHH!!! DOES NOT COMPUTE!...

But I was only half day today (part of my deal about doing my old job, I have Wednesday afternoons off)...So, I went record shopping...I got Holiday Flyer, the Gerbils, Silver Jews, Winterbreif and the Kraftwerk album with the green traffic cone on the cover. So, it's all the more bearable. But, the sight of 200 half catalogued books feels me with my much dread. JEL and the trial of inputting data. *sigh*

But I digress...Going back to work is horrible! I sympathise!

james, Wednesday, 2 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

You see, it's obvious now that I just post without reading responses first...

hip hip hooray for Toby on his magical birthing day!!!

james, Wednesday, 2 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

Happy Birthday person I don't know! All this bitching about work is making me less enthused to apply for jobs. Maybe we should recommit to the ilx commune plan. Then none of us would have to work, just fight bitterly over the cd player.

bnw, Wednesday, 2 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

School's bad. I have lots of homework, and I failed a quiz in English for the first time. On the other hand, I got the opportunity to kick a person in the ass several times.

Maria, Wednesday, 2 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

Yourself?

Tracer Hand, Wednesday, 2 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

cheers y'all. well, a birthday spent doing maths and now watching buffy videos is a bit of a first, but a good one - start the year as you mean to go on etc etc...

toby, Wednesday, 2 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

happy birthday!

No, not myself, a friend. I have good friends.

Maria, Wednesday, 2 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

I see Sara again on Sunday, hurrah. U+K Q: Are violent running hugs likely to make someone like you less or more?

I am lazy student, therefore no work for me until Jan 28th (exams schmams).

Graham, Wednesday, 2 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

U+K Q: Are violent running hugs likely to make someone like you less or more?

It depends on whether they top or bottom and, moreover, if they like you in the first place.

RickyT, Wednesday, 2 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago) link
