It's the new trendy abstract that's easier than hours of Photoshop experimental fucking aroundness. Can you do this with a digital?

You set camera for a longer exposure and throw it up into the air. It looks like these people are experimenting with dark rooms and interesting light sources, but it's impossible to tell. I suspect the more you do it, the better you'd get, which is why a digital camera would be optimal for this sort of thing. But, I don't know that most digital cameras can be manipulated in this way like the standard photographer 35mm ones. There are these same sorts of 35mm digital cameras, of course, but they are pretty expensive.

I like these pictures. Neat!

I experimented with this kind of thing a few years back, with a film camera, after reading it as an exercise suggestion in a 1960s photography "hints and tips" book. Being rather nervous about tossing an expensive camera into the air, I swung it around on the strap rather violently instead. None of the results I got, though, were as good as the ones on that site.

it should work with most digitals - just set for timed exposure with a small aperature and hold the shutter down and wave the camera. You DONT have to "toss" it. Just wave it at the light source and move in circles or triangles or wigglys of your own design.

best cameratoss ever is, of course, at the end of Slacker where he throws a pixelvision camera off a cliff (or something).

actually those are quite nice (suspiciously so in some cases)

I just tried that - the results are kind of boring, but may be better if I weren't in an office cube with flourescent light and tan office furniture.

I can't wait to see the Cameradropohshitmomisgonnakillme website.
