WINNIPEG, Manitoba (AP) Oct. 26, 2005 - A little-known folk group from Canada is taking on Radiohead, Pulp and Harry Potter himself.
The Wyrd (weerd) Sisters claim the new movie "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" contains a scene with a musical group called the Wyrd Sisters, featuring Pulp singer Jarvis Cocker and Jonny Greenwood and Phil Selway of Radiohead.
The Wyrd Sisters are asking for 40 million dollars plus punitive damages, interest and other costs. Warner Brothers plans to fight the suit.
A Warner's spokesman says the Wyrd Sisters are never mentioned in the movie and the group in the movie does not have a name. Meanwhile, Radiohead fans have been posting rants full of expletives on the Wyrd Sisters' message board.
The Wyrd Sisters' lawyer, Kimberly Townley-Smith, has been unavailable for comment but has previously said the group would suffer from public confusion over the name.

C'mon, they are quite well known in Canada and have won Juno Awards and everything. What are the Juno Awards? They are to honour famous Canadian artists like Saukrates, Camille, Melanie Doane, Leahy, Gogh Van Go, Capital Sound, Choclair and Ghetto Concept.

Well I...huh?

Sorry, closer reading of the linked article reveals they are only Juno-NOMINATED. That means they were beaten out by Camille, Melanie Doane, Leahy, Gogh Van Go, Capital Sound, Choclair and Ghetto Concept.

After sweeping the urban awards at the Juno's in, like, 2000, Choclair went from strength to strength and recently was a guest judge on Canadian Idol!

Tragically bad names, you could say. (except maybe 54-40, I was thinking the other day that I rather like the reference)

Gogh Van Go? That one is pretty crap too, though not quite as bad as Choclair. Tragically bad, just as you say Thermo.

Ghetto Concept: keeping it real, in theory.
