guys i came up with this idea for a thread where i am trying to open up a can of soda but its too slippery for whatever reason for me to open and i ask for help

i might also post a picture in this thread it may or may not be related to the slippery can

what do you think will it sell???

PS: i am considering calling this thread slippery can mystery thread 2004
PPS: this thread is still in idea phase and as such changes are likely

What do you win when you pwn ILX?

'Twan (miccio), Friday, 4 November 2005 18:47 (twenty years ago)

So what is the "whatever reason" that the can is too slippery. I think that's a pretty crucial bit of information to leave out.

martin m. (mushrush), Friday, 4 November 2005 18:48 (twenty years ago)

Spunking on my can - c/d?

Rumpie, Friday, 4 November 2005 18:53 (twenty years ago)

Way more tasteful than ice cream on the streets.

KSTFUNS (Ex Leon), Friday, 4 November 2005 18:54 (twenty years ago)

Eating ice cream in the street is fine.

Eating ice cream alone on the street - woah there.

Rumpie, Friday, 4 November 2005 18:56 (twenty years ago)

alright the people in marketing think i should incorporate a zebra into this thread it will have yello fur but still black stripes we are going to call it a zebeebra what do you think
will the thread internet properly?

brainstorm, Friday, 4 November 2005 21:37 (twenty years ago)

Better than ice cream off the street.

Beth Parker (Beth Parker), Saturday, 5 November 2005 02:56 (twenty years ago)

My advice is to not use the "2004" in the thread title. The self-awareness would spoil it by excusing you in the eyes of those who think it's a lame thread idea. You don't want that.

Simultaneously, the "2004" would discourage serious responses. You don't want that either.

SO, go with "Slippery Can Mystery" that's my advice.

Which track on my new CD should I listen to first?

or

I haven't started a thread on this because it will be over tomorrow but I have almost started this thread 3 times today:

Why I Can't Look At IMDB Today...That Fucking Picture of Denis Leary...Jesus Christ!

HAHAHAHAHA YES ME TOO.

* start a poll of what of my shitty favorite movies people think is the most acceptable, except add a total ringer to see if it wins and then go WELL FUCK YOU GUYS when the results come in

* a thread for recounting yr progress in whatever video game yr playing except not actually mentioning the game or characters or whatever, just descriptions of what is going e.g. "there is now a tailor shop open for business in the right nostril of the big old tree in the future"

* a poll for which summer blockbuster trilogy capper of the 21st century is the best, or at least the most tolerable (have to wait for bourne ultimatum to come out)

TOMBOT, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 18:48 (eighteen years ago)

This morning I thought about starting a "Things to do when you're lying in bed in the middle of the night, unable to sleep". But I figured it would quickly devolve into discussion of masturbation so didn't bother.

Great idea. It would be kind of like reading the Lost thread without ever having watched Lost.

Why I Can't Look At IMDB Today...That Fucking Picture of Denis Leary...Jesus Christ!

I didn't look, but I assume it's that "Rescue Me" ad I have to see on the PATH train all the time. YEEEAAARGH!!

Hurting 2, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 18:51 (eighteen years ago)

"Is ILX your home page?"

god that'd be a boring thread

"What percentage of threads that you read do you post to?"

I can't get the phrasing right so haven't bothered, but i do genuinely want to know. Do some people post to half the threads they read? All? 1 out of 20 like me?

jergïns, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 18:53 (eighteen years ago)

I thght about starting a thread about words/objects that EVERYONE seems to know. I can't really describe what I mean as well as hmm Nabisco (or anyone else here). I thought about this cause microwave seems such a word but in Japanese you'd renshidenshi and they don't know... Ah fuck it, it's a worthless thread, even talking about it here...

stevienixed, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 18:54 (eighteen years ago)

That video game progress thread is a great idea, although maybe more appropriate for poor neglected ILG.

I'm at the part where I have to level up for fucking forever before I'm anywhere near able to handle the monsters in the next place I need to go.

nickalicious, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 18:58 (eighteen years ago)

that would be my worry actually that it would just fill up with people talking about how they're grinding and/or can't figure something out. I want to read the utter nonsense, not "the blah blah mission SUCKS"

TOMBOT, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 19:35 (eighteen years ago)

two months pass...

I just had the idea to start a thread called "Jack Kerouac, Blogger," but I don't know what I would say inside.

jaymc, Tuesday, 21 August 2007 19:29 (eighteen years ago)

I would read that thread.

I am also toying with a thread called 'Whitehouse - A Day in the Life of a Confrontational Noise Band'. I've been wondering whether I should start that thread for over two years now.

I was just about to post a thread titled "Let it all out" where we are free to vent, let it all out, and post things like "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" and "AAAAARGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH godDAMMIT". Then I had second thoughts. WWJD

I was thinking of making a poll "TS: Sweeping vs. Vacuuming"? It would be a place where people could express their feelings about whether it's better to clean your floor by sweeping it or vacuuming it. I wasn't sure whether the subject's inherent interest would be enough, or if the thread needed some kind of "hook" to make it topical & sexy.

I was going to start a thread called "Things We Should Have Said," where you had to post (a) what you didn't say, (b) why you didn't say it, and (c) why you should have said it anyway.

But like 90% of threads I start never have respondents other than me, so.

I don't think we're quite in a position for my Rolling Economic Recovery Thread yet.

Best Alternate Beatle Album Poll, where the selections and sequencing are still Revolver and Abbey Road etc., but the songs are all the demo/bootlegged/Anthology mixes.

I just didn't know how to go about explaining what I was talking about, and really didn't have that much enthusiasm to make the effort anyway.

a bill magill thread called 'viable candidates for companionship in atlanta'

kroy bierman is married to kim stupidface jeeezus that is terrible
lol @ how much camera time she gobbles up promoting her own dumb show

^sad thing is that the Falcons need Bierman to play well this year so badly. The dude is utterly critical. Not sure what he married a reality show star for. It's not like Atlanta has a shortage of viable candidates for companionship.
