I'll say it again - The Blogger Awards! Vote for your favorite bloggo! DO IT!

David Raposa, Thursday, 3 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

This isn't an attempt to garner interest or support in my own personal efforts, of course - rather, it's an attempt to get y'all to vote for those you feel are worthy of mention (like, for instance, NYLPM - though that's a conflict of interest, damn it all - or Skykicking, or the Josh Bloggo, or whomever you see fit to recognize).

Empty.Org, for example.

JM, Friday, 4 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

WHATEVER YOU DO! No BLUDDY KOTTKE! No Plasticrag!

Sarah, Friday, 4 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Now, see, Jimmy, in that case, you'd nominate In Review, not Empty.Org. Read the rregulations.

I know of Kottke.Org, but who's that other person Starry has issue with?

David Raposa, Friday, 4 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

plast*cbag.org

RickyT, Friday, 4 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

meet me in the desert took blogging to a new level.

james, Friday, 4 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Okay Dave I am talking about plasticbag.org written by Tom Coates. Let's see if he finds I AM TALKING ABOUT HIM and comes here and tells me off for not saying nice things. Although I have not been nasty. In my opinion, I find him a dull writer. Then again as any fule knows I only like writing with CAPITALS and lack of content. So perhaps he might be interesting. To some people. Instead of just belonging to a vague uk blogging elite. And how interesting does THAT sound kids?

Sarah, Friday, 4 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

(is this one more reason to update, or one more not to?)

mark s, Friday, 4 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Update you nonupdating cockfarmer.

Josh, Friday, 4 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Josh is my favorite curmudgeon. Everyone should vote for his blog. And mine, even though I barely update it anymore.

I'll have you know I posted my highest ever Focus Group average score this year. I have no chance at all of beating Jyoti Mishra. No fucking chance.

Josh, Friday, 4 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Jeez, Josh, you only ranked THREE SONGS! And I think you actually liked 'em this time around. (No Bob.)

David Raposa, Friday, 4 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Yeah, well, like I said, my highest average yet.

Josh, Saturday, 5 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

can i add that i think awards like these are self-glorifying piles of horseshit that usually wind up honoring the most middling 'i'm going to talk about star wars and css' crap?

ok, thanks.

Hey Maura! Come down the pub! You are amongst friends here.

Sarah, Saturday, 5 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Well unless the U2 weblog or whatever it still running (doh), this year might at least have an intresting consequence: either 1) one of the people we know gets a music blog award, or 2) we find out about someone else's music blog, although I really do get the impression that the whole ILX/FT massive runs across most of them eventually, which I guess is why it would be interesting to find another one that was popular enough to win a popularity contest.

Josh, Saturday, 5 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

I have to face facts. The Pornography of Semiotics blog might be nominated. What that might mean to you and me, I don't know. It's always nice to get attention for what I write (I don't write for the void, after all), but I think it's already received about as much publicity as it deserves, if not more. So...uh...do what you want. Just don't vote for andrewsullivan.com, now that the author has left the land of the lovably eccentric and entered the kingdom of kooky. Not like you will, but hey.

BTW: It's too early to think about this, but I'm very open to a PornoSem sequel involving large numbers of the FT/ILX posse.

Michael Daddino, Saturday, 5 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

thanks James!

In the grand FT tradition of ripping off ideas from now defunct music mags - Select did an amusing 24-hours feature wherein different writers listened to different radio stations for 24 hours. We could do something similar, surely.

Tom, Sunday, 6 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

only if you represented transatlantic stylee!
