I love this screen name for a bunch of meta reasons and because it stands all my posts on their head. I don't remember the "...in bed" name, but last week somebody told me the trick of adding that phrase to the end of your fortune in a Chinese restaurant. We happened to be in a Chinese buffet when they told me, and later my fortune cookie said "All your hard work will soon be rewarded."

4. Some traction -- FINALLY -- on getting an overdue promotion. Not out of the woods yet but the wheels are at least moving rather than grinding.
5. Bauhaus a week ago being quite a blast.
6. Figuring out some good holiday gifts already, thus easing my shopping questions.
7. The end of having to work on Sundays, with the counterbalance being a lot of good extra time for vacations for Terrastock 6 etc.

9. Knowing that a close friend who has been through many troubles recently has felt better for the kindness that so many people -- myself just one of many -- have shown her in a tough time.

It's very well worth it -- I knew the basics of the time well enough but this was the first text I had read that, within the scope of a single volume aimed for a general audience, covered so much ground with both thorough knowledge and an excellent writing style. Extremely good on observations of social history as well.

1. Knowing I'll be the only one pitching a graphic novel to Continuum for inclusion in the 33 1/3 series even if it turns out to be too weird an idea for them to agree to publish.

2. Getting to see my folks and one of my brothers on a regular basis even if it means I've got to live out of a suitcase for a month and am ostensibly traveling for work rather than pleasure.

3. Having a challenging job with a real paycheck again even if it reminds me that I'm allergic to stress.

4. I have now written 7 complete songs in less than a week for NaSoAlMo (and 3 incomplete songs). Even if I turn out not to be able to get them all recorded in the short time I'll have in my studio before the end of the month, I still feel infinitely creative and powerful for having churned out so much material in so short a time.
