Actor Chris Klein says Cruise was not reason for his breakup with Holmes
NEW YORK (AP) — Actor Chris Klein says Tom Cruise was not the reason for his breakup with Katie Holmes.
“Her being with Tom has nothing to do with her and I discontinuing our relationship,” Holmes’ ex-fiance said in an interview Monday night on Access Hollywood.
“People move forward, people move on, it’s what we do,” the 26-year-old-actor said. Klein and Holmes called off their engagement earlier this year after dating for five years.
Cruise, 43, and Holmes, 26, went public with their relationship in April. They became engaged in June, and she is now pregnant with their first child.
“For me, what we had was very, very special, and I hope that she’s making decisions that are making her happy and that she doesn’t have people in her life leading her astray from what she wants and what she believes,” replied Klein when asked about Holmes becoming involved in Cruise’s faith of Scientology.
Klein’s new movie, Just Friends, co-starring Ryan Reynolds and Amy Smart, opens in theatres later this month.

Theorry Henry (Enrique), Tuesday, 8 November 2005 15:09 (twenty years ago)

Nothing in that sentence means anything to me, and I believe I am grateful.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 8 November 2005 15:09 (twenty years ago)

Sarah and I figured out the entire plot of "Just Friends" by looking at the poster. So now I don't need to see it, yay me.

n/a (Nick A.), Tuesday, 8 November 2005 15:10 (twenty years ago)

IT WAS FILMED IN REGINA!!!!!!!!!!

Huk-L (Huk-L), Tuesday, 8 November 2005 15:10 (twenty years ago)

it's directed by roger kumble so maybe it's ok. anna faris is in it.

Theorry Henry (Enrique), Tuesday, 8 November 2005 15:12 (twenty years ago)

your first sentence there does not compute, enrique.

OH COME ON!

The director of The Sweetest Thing & the last half of Cruel Intentions ain't a sure bet on any damn thing.

David R. (popshots75`), Tuesday, 8 November 2005 15:41 (twenty years ago)

Alternate title: Shallow Halle

David R. (popshots75`), Tuesday, 8 November 2005 15:42 (twenty years ago)

I wonder what Chris Klein looks like.

the bellefox, Tuesday, 8 November 2005 15:42 (twenty years ago)

i liked 'cruel intentions'. he fluffed the ending a bit, arguably.

chris klein: more vacant josh hartnett?

Theorry Henry (Enrique), Tuesday, 8 November 2005 15:43 (twenty years ago)

the sweetest thing was maybe the worst movie i have ever seen.

s1ocki (slutsky), Tuesday, 8 November 2005 15:44 (twenty years ago)

maybe kumble's bounced back.

Theorry Henry (Enrique), Tuesday, 8 November 2005 15:46 (twenty years ago)

Is Toni Collette in that one?

Huk-L (Huk-L), Tuesday, 8 November 2005 15:46 (twenty years ago)

just friends looks funny! chris klein is great in american pie and election

_, Tuesday, 8 November 2005 15:46 (twenty years ago)

Klein was great in Election, though I get the feeling that his role wasn't really much of a stretch for him.

n/a (Nick A.), Tuesday, 8 November 2005 15:46 (twenty years ago)

He is underrated.

KSTFUNS (Ex Leon), Tuesday, 8 November 2005 15:47 (twenty years ago)

we'll see about that.

s1ocki (slutsky), Tuesday, 8 November 2005 15:48 (twenty years ago)

i kinda get the feeling "just friends" might be his farewell to the world of starring in feature films.

s1ocki (slutsky), Tuesday, 8 November 2005 15:48 (twenty years ago)

he should work with paul verhoeven

_, Tuesday, 8 November 2005 15:49 (twenty years ago)

my friend has a funny story about almost puking on casper van dien

s1ocki (slutsky), Tuesday, 8 November 2005 15:50 (twenty years ago)

I'll buy that for etc.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 8 November 2005 15:50 (twenty years ago)

He has a huge face. You could play football on that face.

n/a (Nick A.), Tuesday, 8 November 2005 15:51 (twenty years ago)

he was apparently quite nice. (CVD)

s1ocki (slutsky), Tuesday, 8 November 2005 15:51 (twenty years ago)

i think i've said "i'll buy that for a dollar" at least once a week since i've seen robocop. it's one of those phrases that i will never ever be able to get out of my head.

s1ocki (slutsky), Tuesday, 8 November 2005 15:51 (twenty years ago)

if they had gave him the lead in stealth instead of that other guy it wouldve been my favorite movie of the year instead of wedding crashers

_, Tuesday, 8 November 2005 15:51 (twenty years ago)

is caspar van dien a mormon or something

_, Tuesday, 8 November 2005 15:52 (twenty years ago)

stealth beat the crashers for me

s1ocki (slutsky), Tuesday, 8 November 2005 15:52 (twenty years ago)

"you gave me your word, intelligent plane... i'm giving you mine."

s1ocki (slutsky), Tuesday, 8 November 2005 15:52 (twenty years ago)

if stealth had been nothing but close ups of jessica biel's ass, it'd be my favorite movie of the year instead of nothing

"there aint no blood in them quantum veins..."

s1ocki (slutsky), Tuesday, 8 November 2005 15:54 (twenty years ago)

"you gave me your word, intelligent plane... i'm giving you mine."

pls tell me this is actual dialogue!

Huk-L (Huk-L), Tuesday, 8 November 2005 15:55 (twenty years ago)

Would a fellow Canadian lie to you?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 8 November 2005 15:55 (twenty years ago)

stealth somehow managed to be LESS than a failure of an action thiller

Raymond Cummings (Raymond Cummings), Tuesday, 8 November 2005 16:01 (twenty years ago)

slocki the actual dialogue is more like "hes downloading songs from the web... to play during missions.." "what songs?" "um... all of them"

_, Tuesday, 8 November 2005 16:03 (twenty years ago)

did you stay after the credits to see THE END... OR IS IT??!?

_, Tuesday, 8 November 2005 16:03 (twenty years ago)

trife, it was so bad that i don't even remember THAT, and i DID see the credits as it was part of a drive-in two-fer with Wedding Crashers (which was like 1000x better).

the sequel would have to go direct to internet tv or something

Raymond Cummings (Raymond Cummings), Tuesday, 8 November 2005 16:08 (twenty years ago)

the intelligent plane's light comes back on

Huk-L (Huk-L), Tuesday, 8 November 2005 16:21 (twenty years ago)

Chris Kleins vapid corn fed hominess makes me horny.

anthony, Tuesday, 8 November 2005 19:24 (twenty years ago)

take him dude

discus (dr g), Tuesday, 8 November 2005 19:30 (twenty years ago)

>chris klein: more vacant josh hartnett?<

Haven't you seen any of that basic-cable staple where they're rivals for a terminally ill Leelee Sobieski? I'd totally get into a Klein-Hartnett meatwich if they didn't speak (that's my Bon Jovi Rule).

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Tuesday, 8 November 2005 19:38 (twenty years ago)

I have a lot of sympathy for Chris Klein. Alexander Payne discovered him when preparing Election and thanks to that and American Pie he became an "it boy" pretty quickly. He's not a trained actor - just an amiable jock for Nebraska who they tried to turn into Keanu II but really needs a good director to even achieve that. He seems really humble and got totally pwned after five years with Holmes (did you see his DUI pics?).
