I'm interested in seeing how long/tall you could build a beer can rod, with multiple cans snugly stacked one atop each other and fixed with insulation tape.
Beer cans are super light (though perhaps I'd need to consider the brand. short cans, ideally), and I reckon they'd have a strong enough tensile strength (when securely taped), that you could easily join well over 100 before it would crack. In order to crack, it would have to either rip apart at a taping, or bend/split along the length of one can. Their lightness, combined with the relative strength of the cans, could mean A TRULY MASSIVE ROD!!
I have 'fantasies' of waving a +200m beer-can-rod through the air with a flick of my wrist, swiftly as a light sabre.
Is this stupid?? I just want to know your rod estimates, really. HOW LONG COULD THE ROD BE??
