I heard that one radio this morning. I saw NRBQ perform the song once, ALL 13 VERSES.

Has there been a topical ballad on the charts since? Maybe some 9/11 hillbilly song, "The Day The Eagle Cried" or something?

I was kinda unsure whether this belonged on ILM or not. I figured it's really about the boat, not the song, right?

That doesn't mean we shouldn't talk about the song too though.

There was a kinda touching picture in National Geograpic a few years back when they sent a sub down to look at the ship... a woman whose father had died sent him a can beer (his favorite) and the guy in the sub left it in the bridge. Might still be down there...

When one thinks of all the tragedies on the waters, this one still stands out for me. I knew no one involved, but have known people who have died this way. The Lightfoot song, for some strange reason addresses this. It ain't a bad piece either.
