Jdubz (ex machina), Friday, 11 November 2005 19:48 (twenty years ago)

err that is TaleSpin.

Sub-DuckTales.

Jdubz (ex machina), Friday, 11 November 2005 19:49 (twenty years ago)

I liked that show. TaleSpin.

Better than Duck Tales. Better than Darkwing Duck? Ooohhh...

giboyeux (skowly), Friday, 11 November 2005 19:50 (twenty years ago)

In retrospect, I think it probably was the best of that duck tales -> rescue rangers -> Tale Spin -> Darkwing Duck block. At the time I preferred DW, and its still in the running, but Tale Spin's world was more interesting, that sort of 30s Cape Suzette guns-on-the-cliffs pirates-in-airships thing was fascinating. And Shere Khan as corporate CEO!

30s = 1930s/40s

Also: Baloo was a drunk on this show. Drunken bears = ace.

I like that the main characters are named:

Baloo (the bear)
Kit Cloudkicker
Louis (the orangutan)
Sher Khan (the tiger)
Wildcat (the wildcat)
&
Rebecca Cunningham (the shebear. And who names the love interest in an animated series for kids "Rebecca Cunningham? Why not Molly O'Flannery?)

pretentioRemy (x Jeremy), Friday, 11 November 2005 20:01 (twenty years ago)

haha what was the little girl-bear's name? Rebecca's kid.

deej.. (deej..), Friday, 11 November 2005 20:04 (twenty years ago)

Molly Cunningham.

"BALOOOO!"

deej.. (deej..), Friday, 11 November 2005 20:07 (twenty years ago)

one month passes...
Ducktales > Talespin >>>>> Chip n Dale RR > Darkwing

I agree Talespin had the coolest "world" backdrop but cheapness is always instant funny

tremendoid (tremendoid), Friday, 16 December 2005 02:21 (twenty years ago)

As a kid, I wanted Baloo and Rebecca to quit pretending with the faux sexual tension and just fuck already. Rescue Rangers >>> Talespin for the 'Cola Cult' episode alone. Who the hell decides to make a disney afternoon cartoon about cults based on grape and orange soda? total genius.

Ducktales really was one of the top pop culture manifestations of the last 25 years. The cartoon, the NES game, etc

It was cool that Baloo's "autopilot" consisted of sticking a wrench in the steering wheel.
