I kind of like the quotes they have on the pages. Here's one:

Don't tell me how educated you are, tell me how much you have traveled.
- Mohammed

lyra (lyra), Friday, 11 November 2005 23:32 (twenty years ago)

Schooled.

jaymc (jaymc), Friday, 11 November 2005 23:34 (twenty years ago)

Ibn Battua travelled more than Mohammed.

This is a nice idea - I like doing little photoblogs about places around my city, I could get into this.

Its a shame the organisational thing seems a bit skewy - maybe some people arent using the site properly. The "St Kilda" entry (which makes it clear it is St Kilda of Melbourne Australia) has photos from some gy that look like remote Scottish highlands. Not that st kilda dude!

BUt yeah. Nice idea!

Little Rock gets pwned on 43 places. User Comments:

If I didn’t have a friend that lived in Little Rock, I honestly probably wouldn’t have any desire to visit.

I would not go there again
I have been here. Worth visiting! But every town is worth visiting, I jsut did not like the place.

Yes, I live in Little Rock. It is okay but only because I have adult children and grandchildren that live here. Otherwise, I would be almost anywhere but in Arkansas. I was born in Michigan, grew up in Kansas and moved here when I was still in school.
If I had it to do over…

Untitled
I have been here. Not worth it!
I went to Little Rock, once, for a show and I was wishing I was home the whole time. Had it not been for the company the whole trip would have been a waste.

Hitch-hiked through here on I-40
I have been here. Not worth it!
I don’t remember anything, sorry.

My god.

when you live on the wrong side of the mississippi, thats gonna happen. My father lived in Scarsdale NY in the 60s and used to drive to Canada for alcohol. Im still not sure why.

added an entry for Victoria, B.C.

And I started an entry for muthafuckin' THAI TOM!

(I couldn't believe out of the dozens of restaurants already listed in the U district section, no one mentioned this place. Now, that's rectified.)

Was that you who just added the comment about Blue C Sushi?

hahaha, I just checked the site, and yep. That was my comment you responded to.

Ha, the website is getting ILXered! I stopped at Baguette Box today & tried the drunken chicken sandwich, as mentioned on its page, and it wasn't very good. Way too salty. I had been debating between that & the tofu sandwich, I picked wrongly.

lyra (lyra), Monday, 14 November 2005 00:38 (twenty years ago)

This site is like cocaine. I can't stop wanting to contribute to it.

(haha, yeah, William, that was me. I was just augmenting your comment but from a day-to-day/cloxe proximity angle)

(plurplurplur) ^_- DJ 'O' Nut -_^ (rulprulprulp) (donut), Monday, 14 November 2005 06:57 (twenty years ago)

this site is great. one day i'll post something besides "i've been there!"

stockholm cindy is in your extended network (Jody Beth Rosen), Monday, 14 November 2005 06:59 (twenty years ago)

I'm not c ompletely getting it. what's its main purpose? becoming some sort of directory of places?
I'm surprised that the website doesn't adapt to the user, ie. suggesting places to see and things to do according to what you've already entered.

I'm surprised that the website doesn't adapt to the user, ie. suggesting places to see and things to do according to what you've already entered.

It does a little bit. On some popular goals, it will say:

People going here are also going to these places:
Roma
Firenze
Paris

lyra (lyra), Monday, 14 November 2005 14:57 (twenty years ago)

yeah me neither

Sororah T Massacre (blueski), Friday, 6 January 2006 14:10 (twenty years ago)

four months pass...
I think the point ultimately is contributing to 'local' knowledge as much as asking around about places to go. It's fun for that! There are of course many sites where there's a build-up of description by consensus but I think this spot does it all pretty well.

Anyway, this is by way of preamble to note that I'm finally on:
