i am going to london at the end of december, for the first time ever. i'm really excited, it should be awesome. i'm gettting in on xmas eve, and will be out in the country for a couple days, but should be in london from about dec. 27th to dec. 31 (when i fly back to new york). london ilxors, it would be awesome if we could meet up for a pint on one of those days. sound good?

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 14 November 2005 15:52 (twenty years ago)

yes.

lauren (laurenp), Monday, 14 November 2005 16:00 (twenty years ago)

I'm going to see my parents from 23rd to 28th and was going to suggest a FAP on 27th, which ties right in with your trip. What do you reckon? I'll try and find somewhere that is (a) open and (b) serving food unlike last year :)

Mädchen (Madchen), Monday, 14 November 2005 16:02 (twenty years ago)

This all sounds delightful.

Tim (Tim), Monday, 14 November 2005 16:03 (twenty years ago)

Alternatively, the Steering Group could anticipate my shiteness at venue-finding and suggest somewhere, hem hem.

Mädchen (Madchen), Monday, 14 November 2005 16:03 (twenty years ago)

i'll be in town

you staying in swiss cottage?

terry lennox. (gareth), Monday, 14 November 2005 16:09 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, you're coming to London now you have a GIRLFRIEND.

Life just isn't fair. :-(

(Just teasing - would be lovely to see you.)

Lady Totteringby-Gently (kate), Monday, 14 November 2005 16:12 (twenty years ago)

there will be ANNUAL FREAKY TRIGGER 'TWEEN XMAS AND NEW YEAR PUB CRAWL (tentatively entitled "the fitzrovia figure"), probably on the 29th, i think (30th is no fun as you end up being hung over for NYE itself)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Monday, 14 November 2005 16:27 (twenty years ago)

isn't the 27th a bank holiday?

koogs (koogs), Monday, 14 November 2005 16:29 (twenty years ago)

Calling it the North London non-orthogon would be better.

Mmmm AFT'TXANYPB time again, what fun.

Tim (Tim), Monday, 14 November 2005 16:29 (twenty years ago)

If you fancied a quieter beer though I'm sure something on the 27th or 28th could be arranged.

Tom (Groke), Monday, 14 November 2005 16:31 (twenty years ago)

The crazy thing is that I was considering a New Year's visit to London too. Alas, finances will not allow it.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 14 November 2005 16:32 (twenty years ago)

(x-post) I think it is a bank holiday, yes, but some pubs will still be open. It just needs a bit of research. I've learned my lesson after causing twenty-odd people and Kate's mum to trail around Waterloo last year.

Mädchen (Madchen), Monday, 14 November 2005 16:32 (twenty years ago)

I was thinking of maybe moving away from the shape/place pub crawl spiritual home and shifting towards the river, but exact places and dates will be out soon. I return to London on the 27th and could probably grab a Kings Cross area pint in the 27th.

There is nothing Crazy about coming to Londons.

Pete (Pete), Monday, 14 November 2005 16:33 (twenty years ago)

Ha ha, I had forgotten about taking my mum to the FAP that didn't really happen!

Lady Totteringby-Gently (kate), Monday, 14 November 2005 16:34 (twenty years ago)

i think i'm staying near earl's court or something? i need to figure that out. 28th might actually work better than the 27th, i'm still not sure what day we're coming back to the city.

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 14 November 2005 16:35 (twenty years ago)

Isn't it the law that we have to have a visiting New Yorker for the AFT'TXANYPB?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 14 November 2005 16:40 (twenty years ago)

bah i think i will be in shr0psh!re this entire time :(

mark s (mark s), Monday, 14 November 2005 16:51 (twenty years ago)

doesn't look like I'm going this winter, unfortunately; I'm trying to get Virgin to refund our tickets as I write this.

kyle (akmonday), Monday, 14 November 2005 16:53 (twenty years ago)

what is AFT'TXANYPB?

mark, i think the family visit thing i might be doing is near shr0psh!re? i'm not sure, all your place names are CONFUSING.

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 14 November 2005 17:01 (twenty years ago)

AFT'TXANYPB is the ANNUAL FREAKY TRIGGER 'TWEEN XMAS AND NEW YEAR PUB CRAWL spelt wrong.

Pete (Pete), Monday, 14 November 2005 17:02 (twenty years ago)

xpost Stence it's the ANNUAL FREAKY TRIGGER 'TWEEN XMAS AND NEW YEAR PUB CRAWL.

Obv.

Shr0psh!re is confusing. So much so I'm glad we're googleproofing it, in case we are hunted down by malicious Salopians, again.

Tim (Tim), Monday, 14 November 2005 17:03 (twenty years ago)

(The B is for BRAWL btw.)

Tim (Tim), Monday, 14 November 2005 17:04 (twenty years ago)

bah!!

i am going to be in london from the 15-20th of dec and then from the 3-7th of jan. and i would rather fancy seeing some of you if it can be managed.

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Monday, 14 November 2005 17:07 (twenty years ago)

yay TRACEY HAND TOO!

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Monday, 14 November 2005 17:14 (twenty years ago)

i might be travelling around scotland again this xmas. might go to inverness.

ken c (ken c), Monday, 14 November 2005 17:14 (twenty years ago)

that is a weird schedule, tracer. too bad we'll miss each other, it'd be fun to hang somewhere besides brooklyn!

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 14 November 2005 17:16 (twenty years ago)

Aces.

Dear non-London ILXers please follow the excellent examples of Stence and Madchen and Tracey and do more trying London.

Tim (Tim), Monday, 14 November 2005 17:19 (twenty years ago)

you'll not draw me out with that tracey stuff.

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Monday, 14 November 2005 17:20 (twenty years ago)

If I had any money left over after I buy my flat, I thought I might do some "trying somewhere that isn't London" for Xmas. Sigh. maybe I'll do the £1 megatrain and see if anyone will have me.

Lady Totteringby-Gently (kate), Monday, 14 November 2005 17:22 (twenty years ago)

come to scotland if you like.

ken c (ken c), Monday, 14 November 2005 17:25 (twenty years ago)

I'll be in London too!

jel -- (jel), Monday, 14 November 2005 17:28 (twenty years ago)

I'd like to go to Inverness. I could visit the family seat. But I think it's a hotel now. :-(

I wonder if they're open over Xmas. I could spent Xmas with my family's ghosts. Better than the living ones!

Lady Totteringby-Gently (kate), Monday, 14 November 2005 17:30 (twenty years ago)

I was wondering whether there would be any trailing around Waterloo this year, it was good last year.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller 68), Monday, 14 November 2005 17:42 (twenty years ago)

i might rent a seat to drive up there.

i kind of do hope there are hotels that open, yes. i might go drumnadroicht again

ken c (ken c), Monday, 14 November 2005 17:55 (twenty years ago)

just make sure you're somewhere nearer to the central line than my way home, as I'll be fucking working.
