hi folks..
so sorry we didn't make it out. after a full day of t-dot tourist-ness, marianna and i never did make it out 'east side' on friday at all. after lots of talk of various friday night activities, we wound up doing nothing. hooray!
i'll be along next time, though...
oh, any plans for pre-depeche-mode beverages (for those going)?

-- Rob Bolton (i_like_my_vesp...), Yesterday. (later)

No worries, Rob, and I got your email!

I propose that we all meet up at the Underdown this Friday. Details here:

http://slapdeebarnes.blogspot.com/

(That would be Mr. Dave M, among others, on the proverbial wheels of steel.)

I would also definitely be up for warm six-packs in the back of a pickup truck a la Heavy Metal Parking Lot drinks on the night of the Depeche Mode show.

THIS FRIDAY, THE CANADIANS MAY MEET AGAIN. NO ONE KNOWS WHAT WILL HAPPEN.

If Thermo goes then I will stay home, just to be on the safe side.

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Wednesday, 16 November 2005 03:19 (twenty years ago)

Good call. my mom doesn't want us hanging out anymore because she says you're a bad influence!

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Wednesday, 16 November 2005 03:29 (twenty years ago)

Thermo, just tell her you're going to the Anglican Youth "rave" that I'm throwing.

Tantrum The Cat (Tantrum The Cat), Wednesday, 16 November 2005 08:11 (twenty years ago)

the rock = cold and wet as fuck

i promise to play Christian Rap if Thermo comes

DC TALK RULEZ!!!

Tantrum The Cat (Tantrum The Cat), Wednesday, 16 November 2005 22:30 (twenty years ago)

I have no idea how this thread has not been invaded by ilx'ors begging us to never, ever, fap together again ever!

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Thursday, 17 November 2005 01:58 (twenty years ago)

or MAYBE we're being watched and no one wants to tip us off???

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Thursday, 17 November 2005 01:59 (twenty years ago)

Clearly the act of FAPping isn't the problem. Rather, the drugs and alcohol are messing with our minds. Can we not get together and enjoy each other's company, just once, without imbibing these mind-altering substances? What are you guys afraid of? Are you afraid that everyone else will turn out to be terrible bores if you experience their company while sober? We must address this danger before it is too late. ILX can not continue to be completely unaffected as a result of our FAP's.

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Thursday, 17 November 2005 02:12 (twenty years ago)

who's with the what now?

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Thursday, 17 November 2005 02:52 (twenty years ago)

i'm joining a convent.

Kim (Kim), Thursday, 17 November 2005 03:10 (twenty years ago)

I'll sneak in some Bibles, Jesus fish buttons, and non-alcholic cider, which I will inconspicuously serve in pint glasses. And I'll have you know that I play a mean game of Trivial Pursuit, which I can also bring.

Tantrum The Cat (Tantrum The Cat), Thursday, 17 November 2005 04:07 (twenty years ago)

i'll be setting that on fire.

Kim (Kim), Thursday, 17 November 2005 04:11 (twenty years ago)

If your FAPs always end up in such drunken shenanigans, I wanna move to Toronto!

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 17 November 2005 04:12 (twenty years ago)

Scrabble, then, Kim?

Tantrum The Cat (Tantrum The Cat), Thursday, 17 November 2005 04:29 (twenty years ago)

Please KIm - we do not want a repeat of the C'est What? incident, now do we?

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Thursday, 17 November 2005 04:43 (twenty years ago)

like lindsey lohan, i don't get involved in any drama.

Kim (Kim), Thursday, 17 November 2005 05:37 (twenty years ago)

did you guys know that my dad used to date Mase? it's true.

Kim (Kim), Thursday, 17 November 2005 05:41 (twenty years ago)

What if we played Axis & Allies, Kim?

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Thursday, 17 November 2005 06:05 (twenty years ago)

Actually, Trivial Pursuit is one of the few board games I don't mind playing. Oh, and Operation, which we actually have at the apartment. Scrabble, Yahtzee, etc, etc, make me wanna gouge my eyes out, as do all card games, including kids' card games.

Tantrum The Cat (Tantrum The Cat), Thursday, 17 November 2005 06:25 (twenty years ago)

did you guys know that my dad used to date Mase? it's true.

So did my mom! Kim and I could have been brother and sister!

Uh, ...

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Thursday, 17 November 2005 07:07 (twenty years ago)

Everyone who hates board games will be shown the hand* this Friday.

*I'm not talking about cards

yuengling participle (rotten03), Thursday, 17 November 2005 19:18 (twenty years ago)

Dude, where's yer column?

Tantrum The Cat (Tantrum The Cat), Thursday, 17 November 2005 19:35 (twenty years ago)

I was thinking the same thing! (I flipped through eye and NOW during lunch ... I'm still lost with the new eye design, though)

MIRloggedout, Thursday, 17 November 2005 19:47 (twenty years ago)

well you ain't gonna find it in NOW, i can tell you that much. space constraints this week, alas.

but hey, we underground, baby. just like roaches. we never die, always livin. and on that note, let's get back to the program:

http://www.eye.net/eye/issue/issue_11.17.05/music/totallywired.html

yuengling participle (rotten03), Thursday, 17 November 2005 20:55 (twenty years ago)

HAHA ... "Dave's column isn't here ... HE MUST HAVE JUMPED SHIP TO NOW!!!!"

I find myself in a strange limbo regarding eye and NOW ... eye has much better writers, but NOW's psycho-liberal shtick is perversely entertaining to me these days so I find myself reading that mag more diligently.

MIRloggedout, Thursday, 17 November 2005 21:04 (twenty years ago)

I have to get my Now/Eye fix every week, or I am not a happy boy. Speaking of better writing, I would quite happily read an all Dave M / Jason Anderson edition of Eye.

Tantrum The Cat (Tantrum The Cat), Thursday, 17 November 2005 21:10 (twenty years ago)

Just sayin'. Also, the new Eye website is awesome, but like Barry said, the paper itself, er... takes a bit of navigation.

Tantrum The Cat (Tantrum The Cat), Thursday, 17 November 2005 21:16 (twenty years ago)

As always, a good time had by all.

But to that dipshit who thought I was trying to pick up his girlfriend, and made a big point of introducing her to me as his girlfriend: fuck right off. We. Were. Just. Dancing. Spare your condescending frat boy routine for someone who may actually be trying to ruin your mackin' vibes, and who may just steal her when you're not looking. Hint: he was also dancing with us.

Tantrum The Cat (Tantrum The Cat), Saturday, 19 November 2005 15:14 (twenty years ago)

Ooh, gossip. And here I was in England, eating custard and falling asleep in front of Stephen Fry (n.b., on the telly).

Chuck_Tatum (Chuck_Tatum), Saturday, 19 November 2005 15:21 (twenty years ago)

Oh, that's all there was to it, and dude wasn't affiliated with ILX at all. I'm just venting 'cause I never get into those kinds of scenarios.

Tantrum The Cat (Tantrum The Cat), Saturday, 19 November 2005 15:27 (twenty years ago)

Chuck, it's more ROFFLE without the n.b.

Great to see all the ILXors I hadn't seen in ages. Also now I have to go find a copy of, uh, "Tones On Tail"? Why does the phrase "disco Bauhaus" make me shiver...

yuengling participle (rotten03), Saturday, 19 November 2005 17:14 (twenty years ago)

Mmm, custard. What kind?

Tantrum The Cat (Tantrum The Cat), Saturday, 19 November 2005 17:36 (twenty years ago)

Full-fat Ambrosia, from a can.
Stephen Fry, from the bottom of my heart.

How did it go, then?

Chuck_Tatum (Chuck_Tatum), Saturday, 19 November 2005 17:38 (twenty years ago)

What girl were you hitting on?

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Saturday, 19 November 2005 18:25 (twenty years ago)

oh hey! was the guy dancing kind of stiffly (y'know - the side to side foot shuffle) in the corner closest to the door? if yes, we were mocking him from the table.

Kim (Kim), Saturday, 19 November 2005 18:42 (twenty years ago)

Yes, that was the dude. His girlfriend, who seemed to like Best Bud Of Boyfriend (tm) an awful lot, had emo glasses, shoulder-length black hair (tied back), and a black hoodie (or sweater, four Amsterdams on an empty tummy has a fuzzifying effect on my memory...).

Tantrum The Cat (Tantrum The Cat), Saturday, 19 November 2005 18:53 (twenty years ago)

was the guy dancing kind of stiffly (y'know - the side to side foot shuffle) in the corner closest to the door?

The guys that can't dance always get paranoid about the guys that can, particularly when their gf's are thrown into the mix somewhere.

GET SOME RHYTHM, WHITE BOY.

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Saturday, 19 November 2005 19:35 (twenty years ago)

Barry. Leafs game. My place. To. Night.

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Saturday, 19 November 2005 19:44 (twenty years ago)

you should see my dance moves

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Saturday, 19 November 2005 19:48 (twenty years ago)

sorry i missed out last night... AGAIN.

was feeling CRAP and didn't even go out to the LCD show that i had already purchsed a (bloody expensive) ticket for...

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Saturday, 19 November 2005 19:49 (twenty years ago)

for dm, i guess we should meet for drinks somewhere in the union/front st vicinity?

Kim (Kim), Saturday, 26 November 2005 22:16 (twenty years ago)

Sounds like a plan. What time-ish? I'm not at work that day.

Tantrum The Cat (Tantrum The Cat), Sunday, 27 November 2005 02:22 (twenty years ago)

I will be fine with whatever you decide ... I will probably show up very late at the pub for a quick drink and head down to the ACC with you guys.

(no reprieve for me -- this shit's going down on Friday)

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Sunday, 27 November 2005 05:57 (twenty years ago)

ok, well it's generic but i guess "The Overdraught" pub that's under Joe Badali's on Front fits the bill for a quick pint or two. i'll probably just head down after work, so 6-ish should be there. oh unless there's an event at the dome that night? all bars on front should be avoided if there is.

Kim (Kim), Sunday, 27 November 2005 19:17 (twenty years ago)

ok i lied. turns out i have to go buy a bunch of elf hats after work (don't ask) so will be there more like 6:30-7:00.

Kim (Kim), Wednesday, 30 November 2005 23:30 (twenty years ago)

7:00 PM sounds good to me.

Tantrum The Cat (Tantrum The Cat), Thursday, 1 December 2005 01:03 (twenty years ago)

I would have shown up at 7:00 anyway so that time is perfect for me.

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Thursday, 1 December 2005 02:16 (twenty years ago)

who wants an elf hat?

Kim (Kim), Thursday, 1 December 2005 02:19 (twenty years ago)

I'm assuming that you were tasked with buying hats for the Xmas party at work ... and you want the rest of us to model them for you. That should go over well with the 30-somethings who still wear their leather pants and bondage gear to DM concerts.

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Thursday, 1 December 2005 02:34 (twenty years ago)

The Elven Fan Faction!!!

Tantrum The Cat (Tantrum The Cat), Thursday, 1 December 2005 03:15 (twenty years ago)

work x-mas party, right. that definitely sounds better than Santa's Verkshop Elf Orgy.

but yeah, too bad the office business casual dress code means no leather bondage pants for me.

Kim (Kim), Thursday, 1 December 2005 03:41 (twenty years ago)

I quit my old job just as the leather bondage pants were becoming mandatory.

Tantrum The Cat (Tantrum The Cat), Thursday, 1 December 2005 05:32 (twenty years ago)

hey Barry, how did the exam go?

Kim (Kim), Saturday, 3 December 2005 19:34 (twenty years ago)

Hey, do we wanna H.O.P. before the Non-Denominational Winter Solstice (TM) kicks in?

Tantrum The Cat (Tantrum The Cat), Wednesday, 7 December 2005 20:28 (twenty years ago)

Hi Kim, it went well! I sent you guys an email about it on Saturday, didn't you get it?

I was out of there in record time too. The Depeche Mode concert was about a half hour longer than my defense. I think that's how it should be.

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Wednesday, 7 December 2005 20:38 (twenty years ago)

yep, i did get the good news just after i posted that!

actually we were thinking of having a little pre-holiday thing way up here - dunno, maybe on the 17th? but perhaps could be persuaded to go to HOP instead - or, what the heck, we could do both.

o yeah, the date, she is set! sept 9th, 2006.

Kim (Kim), Thursday, 8 December 2005 03:50 (twenty years ago)

Congrats!

Tantrum The Cat (Tantrum The Cat), Thursday, 8 December 2005 03:56 (twenty years ago)

Dave M's holiday party is on the 17th (I'm assuming you all got his email a couple of weeks ago).

But I'm still up for whatever whenever. My holiday schedule is fairly open right now (I'm not travelling anywhere, Chanukah is late this year, etc.)

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Thursday, 8 December 2005 05:06 (twenty years ago)

oh no, did not get dave's email.

Kim (Kim), Friday, 9 December 2005 01:01 (twenty years ago)

whaaat? i will resend immediately.

yuengling participle (rotten03), Friday, 9 December 2005 20:40 (twenty years ago)

my bday party is the 14th of Jan. at Batifole. 8:30 pm 744 Gerard STreet. RSVP via Email, but it would be awesome if ya'll came.

anthony easton (anthony), Saturday, 10 December 2005 10:05 (twenty years ago)

Who will be dipping their toes into Dave's party tomorrow? I plan on going, and Thermo said he will try to swing by later on.

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Friday, 16 December 2005 18:25 (twenty years ago)

Looks like I may well be there for Jan 14.

Sundar (sundar), Friday, 16 December 2005 21:49 (twenty years ago)

I will try to swing by later on.

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Saturday, 17 December 2005 01:45 (twenty years ago)

How late will this shindig be going until?

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Saturday, 17 December 2005 01:45 (twenty years ago)

Sundar, did you get my email.
Thermo--email me yr cellphone no. and we will keep you informed of changes

anthony, Saturday, 17 December 2005 05:10 (twenty years ago)

hey, how was the party? thanks to our friend kevin who showed up here near midnight on friday (wasted enough to have barged on in to every other apt in our block first) we were too wiped out to make it after all.

Kim (Kim), Sunday, 18 December 2005 16:18 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, I'm sorry I didn't make it out either. I've got one last client to finish up for before Christmas, so I've been a shut-in all weekend.

How about a post-Christmas, pre-New Year's thing? Like, just a pub night?

Tantrum The Cat (Tantrum The Cat), Sunday, 18 December 2005 20:49 (twenty years ago)

I am legendarily hung over right now. My phone has been ringing all afternoon so if anyone called me (Thermo, I know you did) -- sorry, I've been ignoring it.

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Sunday, 18 December 2005 22:24 (twenty years ago)

Party was great though!

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Sunday, 18 December 2005 22:45 (twenty years ago)

i *think* the 30th would be ok Ian, but what's everyone up to for NYE though? we're currently thinking that we'll just hang out here to save some cash, so if anyone feels like joining us that would be cool, or perhaps coaxing us out somewhere - we're pretty easy.

Kim (Kim), Thursday, 22 December 2005 04:45 (twenty years ago)

Hmmm... we really hate braving the bars/clubs on NYE...

Tantrum The Cat (Tantrum The Cat), Friday, 23 December 2005 23:23 (twenty years ago)

hey guys, happy belated christmas etc.! just got back from visting the family, so have basically been on the run since my last post here. finally getting a rest. whew.

Kim (Kim), Tuesday, 27 December 2005 18:25 (twenty years ago)

Happy New Year! Ms. Cat and myself took the hole-up-watch-DVDs-and-drink-much-vino route this weekend, as we both find going out on New Year's to be anti-climactic at best.

We gettin' our drink on in the weeks to come?

Tantrum The Cat (Tantrum The Cat), Tuesday, 3 January 2006 00:47 (twenty years ago)

hell dude, i'm drinking right now.

Kim (Kim), Tuesday, 3 January 2006 04:09 (twenty years ago)

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Tuesday, 3 January 2006 05:46 (twenty years ago)

Tantrum The Cat (Tantrum The Cat), Tuesday, 3 January 2006 18:54 (twenty years ago)

We are not the bizness, not this month.

Rufus 3000 (Mr Noodles), Friday, 20 January 2006 23:23 (twenty years ago)

I am, however, the bizness.
I will be there. And I'm bringing friends. All are foxy ladiez!

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Saturday, 21 January 2006 00:34 (twenty years ago)

Hey, if anyone of you going read this, will ya check with barman Eric if he still has my goodbye card from September. (This is Paul).
Otherwise, Enjoys! I'm sitting here twiddling my thumbs in London. Pooh.

Chuck_Tatum (Chuck_Tatum), Saturday, 21 January 2006 00:39 (twenty years ago)

sorry, that's landlord Eric

Chuck_Tatum (Chuck_Tatum), Saturday, 21 January 2006 00:39 (twenty years ago)

As always, a good time had by all. Dave, I owe you some smoke. ALSO: it's time to make this a bi-weekly, in a venue more hospitable to le danse.

Tantrum The Cat (Tantrum The Cat), Saturday, 21 January 2006 15:08 (twenty years ago)

Rob, were you there? If so, I somehow managed to go the entire night without running into you!

NoTimeBeforeTime (Barry Bruner), Saturday, 21 January 2006 18:41 (twenty years ago)

Rob was the mysterious looking man in the camoflauge zip sweater & KGB hat.
