i deleted it as a bookmark so that i would be forced to type the URL in every time.

I suppose I could actually ask our sys admin to block it from me, but I think that would just raise too many questions about how much time I spent on it and what I was doing it in the first place. :-/

I dunno about Firefox, but IE allows you to add sites of your choice on a "restricted" list (found in security options).

Open up a terminal, then

'sudo vi /etc/hosts'

Add the lines

'127.0.0.1 ilx.p3r.net'
'127.0.0.1 ilx.wh3rd.net'

This will cause ilx.*.net to point back to your own machine.

When you want to see ILX again, just comment out (i.e. add '#' to the start of the line) the two lines. Or remove them.

Modifying the hosts file is completely surefire. See: http://www.dreamlight.com/insights/bugs/Apple/lookupd.html#adsonar

Not quite the same as a plug-in, but will block the site from anything on the machine attempting to connect.
