I say there butler, this floor is as cold as my father's love. Heat it at once or you'll spend another night in the boo box. Handsomely now, you dullard!

1) What jon did was a bit daft but it helped me get away from my pc for a few hours, and his shitting pikachu made me laugh, so that's all fine with me.

2) kate is regularly annoying and I'd be happier if she was banned.

That's all thanks bye.

Do you remember seeing Trees Lounge there while revising for our finals? I can remember coming out thirstier than I had ever been in my life, and with an unquenchable desire to end up a pathetic barfly. Hey it might still happen!

BUSTED

Dan (hahahahaha) Perry (Dan Perry), Thursday, 17 November 2005 22:16 (twenty years ago)

isn't he always posting weird bitter shit under different pseudonyms? i think teeny busted him before!

s1ocki (slutsky), Thursday, 17 November 2005 22:17 (twenty years ago)

i thought bato was alba! just how many glaswegians are there in this bitch??

gi, Thursday, 17 November 2005 22:19 (twenty years ago)

I rememeber the other time alext showed up on the same IP as a bunch of insults/trolls

where was it, again?

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 17 November 2005 22:21 (twenty years ago)

I thought bato was a 12 yr old from new jersey.

Lars and Jagger (Ex Leon), Thursday, 17 November 2005 22:23 (twenty years ago)

I really doubt this is alext.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 17 November 2005 22:25 (twenty years ago)

Although it would be very funny.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 17 November 2005 22:26 (twenty years ago)

EXACTLY

Dan (hahahahaha) Perry (Dan Perry), Thursday, 17 November 2005 22:27 (twenty years ago)

The hell?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 17 November 2005 22:32 (twenty years ago)

stuff showing up on the same day from the same IP makes it fairly likely that it's the same person, right? although I suspect this isn't a hard and fast rule either. I don't have it out for anyone (well ok I'm not going to like it when someone starts a trolling thread with someone's name in the title but you know what I mean), just kind of wanted to demonstrate what mods have to work with sometimes.

teeny (teeny), Thursday, 17 November 2005 22:34 (twenty years ago)

When Rob Bolton was staying with friends in the same area as us he posted and had the same IP address as us.

Alex normally posts from work, which is glasgow uni, I would imagine that is someone else posted from within glasgow uni network they might have the same IP?

Vicky (Vicky), Thursday, 17 November 2005 22:43 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, I don't think it's Alex at all. There are all kinds of reasons for the same IP - if there were messages going back and forth between Alex and one of those troll IDs minutes apart, Alex-troll-Alex-troll, it would be compelling, but otherwise no.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 17 November 2005 22:46 (twenty years ago)

Laura H and I have the same IP!

Jdubz (ex machina), Thursday, 17 November 2005 22:47 (twenty years ago)

? Does this mean I am a figment of a troll's imagination? That's kind of cool. I hope I don't wake up to find that I didn't actually get my dream job last week, but some troll is dreaming about me instead. urgh, actually that's icky.

alext (alext), Thursday, 17 November 2005 22:55 (twenty years ago)

Yeah Jon, making her up was your best-ever PR move!

nabisco (nabisco), Thursday, 17 November 2005 22:55 (twenty years ago)

I love that I now belong to an internet community where it might be thought alex t is a shapeshifting troll.

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 17 November 2005 23:17 (twenty years ago)

Maybe he has mice. Evil, typing mice.

nabisco (nabisco), Thursday, 17 November 2005 23:20 (twenty years ago)

hahahahahah, jesus fucking wept. alex, IIWY i'd sue.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Friday, 18 November 2005 01:38 (twenty years ago)

in seriousness ... i wonder if this has something to do with glasgow uni's proxy?

[reaches limit of technical knowledge v quickly]

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Friday, 18 November 2005 01:43 (twenty years ago)

Well I guess it must do, but I don't really understand the thread at all -- was the thread started by alleged 'troll' who people think is me? This is me posting from home, so presumably I am no longer an imposter.

alext (alext), Friday, 18 November 2005 10:04 (twenty years ago)

it's alext's canadian flatmate

ken c (ken c), Friday, 18 November 2005 10:52 (twenty years ago)

Trolling Canadian flatmates impersonating Glasgow students should be vigorously pistol whipped.

Onimo (GerryNemo), Friday, 18 November 2005 11:05 (twenty years ago)

what if he/she was merely following orders?

ken c (ken c), Friday, 18 November 2005 11:21 (twenty years ago)

The original post is funny, so whassa problem?

Oh No, It's Dadaismus (and His Endless Stupid Jokes) (Dada), Friday, 18 November 2005 11:24 (twenty years ago)

i thought the 'me and the gf' pic was pretty funny as well, actually.

Jena (JenaP), Friday, 18 November 2005 11:34 (twenty years ago)

I was gonna say, anybody who says "this floor is as cold as my father's love" isn't funny is a liar.

HALLUCIN 8 (noodle vague), Friday, 18 November 2005 11:35 (twenty years ago)

This is me posting from home, so presumably I am no longer an imposter.

i'd be intrigued to see if anyone else in the same area, using the same ISP, came up with the same IP as you at home ... particularly if (like me) you don't have static IP.

[way past limit of technical knowledge now]

x-post: yes, me too. and i'm sure markelby would find the first post here v amusing as well!

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Friday, 18 November 2005 11:36 (twenty years ago)

BAN ME NOW!
Ok don't please.
I think I have static IP at home.

alext (alext), Friday, 18 November 2005 12:20 (twenty years ago)

Alex, do you practice Internet Connection Sharing with anyone?

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 18 November 2005 12:49 (twenty years ago)

So Calum was Dr T all along? Suddenly everything becomes clear.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 18 November 2005 12:55 (twenty years ago)

I don't know what Internet Connection Sharing is so I assume that means no. I have occasionally sneakily used the completely insecure wireless network I can pick up at home, when f-ing ukoffline has been buggering me about YET AGAIN. Actually C sometimes uses her laptop from home, but those posts above were all made from work.

alext (alext), Friday, 18 November 2005 13:17 (twenty years ago)

strange. i share my connection with another pc at home and we have different ip addresses. unless by "same" you just mean the first 3 lots are the same.

ken c (ken c), Friday, 18 November 2005 13:20 (twenty years ago)

this post comes from the glasgow proxy too ... oh wait, isn't JANET still around? Does it run proxies? [way beyond technical caring]

stet (stet), Friday, 18 November 2005 14:28 (twenty years ago)

dammit, JANET.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Friday, 18 November 2005 14:30 (twenty years ago)

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Friday, 18 November 2005 15:29 (twenty years ago)

Ha, I knew my bossx3 was involved with creating JANET and asked someone, and was told "He WAS JANET!" which I liked the sound of.
