WTF is up with that Virgin Mobile commercial?

I've seen the "Hindu Santa" one twice on TV so far. Is this a national/international campaign? It's a bizarre promotion. At first, I thought it was really offensive and supposed to be some sort of dig at multiculturalism and/or 'political correctness'. But apparently they're actually intending to celebrate it and even give their employees a non-denominational day off for "Chrismahanukwanzakah". I don't know what to think of it. (Speaking mostly about the "Hindu Santa" one since I feel more qualified to comment on it), it does still seem to be not only a blatantly stereotypical and unflattering portrait (he even gets the door slammed in his face AFAICT) but even more fundamentally doesn't even make sense as a promotion for Virgin Mobile. The stuff about the phone just seems thrown in there with no connection to the rest of the song or scenario. It's a bang-on Tamil accent though, which I have to give them something for. I'm kind of fascinated by it. Has it been playing in Toronto? I'm curious how it would go over there.

Although if you're actually going for a non-denominational holiday it doesn't really seem to make sense to name it after a couple of already-existing religious holidays rather than just come up with something new. (I mean, that still doesn't seem to include Hindus if you're going to make them a focus of the campaign.)

i haven't seen that one, but twice saw another one with a guy lying on the floor from what looks like a drug overdose while a stereotypically ethnic cleaning lady (latino or mexican?? forgive my ignorance of the actual accent used here) starts grabbing him and yelling angrily about mp3s etc and then the message "TRY NOT TO DIE" or something similar pops up. not sure of the point there either.
