don't think bad thoughts - they may get you in trouble

Load up an iPod/mp3 player. Buy some handheld poker/blackjack/solitaire games.

Have you got a laptop you can take with you?

Here's a little light reading to take your mind off things -- http://www.iop.org/EJ/abstract/0264-9381/21/24/005

Actually anthony what the hell are they doing to you up there??

I suggest "The Morning Watch" by James Agee.

If you have a laptop and can get hold of a copy of the Complete New Yorker DVD set, that could occupy the whole stay.

Bring a radio and listen to NPR or BBC or whatever your country has.

I always take Crossword & puzzle books with me. Something about reading and hospital light always makes me feel anxious, so I never take thick novels. Maybe a book of short stories would be nice. You need something that will occupy shorter periods of time. You'll be interrupted a lot. And if you can get someone to bring you hot meals from the outside, take advantage of that. It will lift your spirits. And make sure you have lots of change for the vending machines in case you want a soda.
