I just tried to read an article on The Independents website and they wanted to charge £1!!!

This is ridiculous. I wouldn't even pay £1 for an article if it was a pysical copy. I don't even think the paper is that much!

the indie runs at a loss, it's subsidised by the owner's irish newspaper empire (OH THE INDPENDENCE).

I'm no expert on the Independent but it seems like a pretty left wing paper. Charging £1 per article sits uncomfortably with this. To my eyes.

yeah, it's funny the indie has that image, but check bruce anderson's column. it's more green and right-wing isolationist than left.

Admittedly I haven't really read the Independent much before, aside from reviews. Actually I quite like The Observer on a sunday.

Search for it at http://findarticles.com . Through some licensing oddity they offer Independent articles for free.
