I think a combination of enigmatic and cheerful is what I am looking for.

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 25 November 2005 20:51 (twenty years ago)

:-/

I've had a rough week myself in a couple of spots. But in others not so rough, and a lot of it was unexpected. I'd say always allow for pleasant surprises, even in the darker times.

All fortune-cookie fortunes are improved by adding the words "in bed" at the end. Also, like the song says, "I'm so glad trouble don't last always."

The story of my life. Sorry Ronan.

The sad thing is I really should be in good form, everything is absolutely great apart from the fact that I have been sick for over 4 fucking months and can't get better, despite about 3 false dawns, I've tried to be positive the whole time but when, after 4 months, you slip back to feeling as bad as the first day you went to the doctor, then you just want to fucking scream or cry. It's so stressful trying to do normal things everday, I don't know how much longer I can run for buses etc and work and DJ and do all the normal stuff but I also know if I stop then I'd be even more sad.

I've seen a specialist and I've more appointments to come with a sleep specialist and a sinus x-ray due next week, so practically speaking I should still be optimistic but I'm just feeling really really down right now, I swear I can't even remember what feeling normal feels like, and the sort of weird introvertion that comes with always being sick is horrible. I just want to be able to tell the next person I meet 4 weeks after I last met them that "Yes I'm better and I have some news that isn't me being sick"

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 25 November 2005 21:19 (twenty years ago)

i feel ya, ronan. i've been sick a lot lately too. it's a real drag when you have stuff to do but you can barely get out of bed.

the jews (Jody Beth Rosen), Friday, 25 November 2005 21:23 (twenty years ago)

sucks so bad! i've been having weird breathing probs which I guess are sinus related or possibly asthma, and it freaks the hell out of me unless I'm sitting in a chair, and even then is very uncomfortable.

just needed to get some of this out somewhere, thanks ILX.

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 25 November 2005 21:27 (twenty years ago)

Ronan, I'm really sorry -- I know you'd like your life back. When I went on the BCP a few years ago it took me about two months to adjust, and for the whole time I was exhausted and felt like I was JUST ABOUT to come down with the flu but never actually got the flu or got better. My work & my then-relationship both went to shit in that period. But! When you're well again it will be such a gift to do every little thing, and that day is coming (not soon enough, I know). Is that too-cold comfort? I am sorry & wish you cheer.

Laurel (Laurel), Friday, 25 November 2005 21:31 (twenty years ago)

Four months is a very long time, I realize, but try to hang on. Seeing a specialist and maybe getting some better diagnostics (as you are planning to do) could very possibly uncover something that's been missed so far (and I hope it's not a big deal, whatever it is).

Rockist_Scientist (RSLaRue), Friday, 25 November 2005 21:43 (twenty years ago)

Ronan, what kind of "weird breathing problems" are you having? I was having these frequent spells where I'd get all dissociated and feel like I couldn't breathe. Turns out it was combination of acid reflux and panic attacks. A few dietar changes & some "happy pills" and I'm a-ok now.

jay blanchard (jay blanchard), Friday, 25 November 2005 21:50 (twenty years ago)

Yeah a bit like that, I've never done acid though! It could be panic attacks I guess but given I know I'm having sinus trouble I guess I'm inclined to think it's related to that.

It's sometimes hard to know whether to stick to one doctor the whole time or try a new one, or follow all the advice of one etc etc etc.

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 25 November 2005 21:53 (twenty years ago)

i bet the Rogers Sisters at Whelan's will cheer up our Ro

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 25 November 2005 23:09 (twenty years ago)

i've been sick about 3 months, but have only been to the doctor once because i'm stupid, and then it was only because my mother made me. so at least you're ahead of me in the taking action to get better category!

tres letraj (tehresa), Friday, 25 November 2005 23:24 (twenty years ago)

My oldest sister is a real goofball but she is always lookingout for me and the rest of the clan since my mom died so long ago and my dad had remarried, moved out of the country and rarely has contact with us.

She gets on my nerves but not because she is malicious... she is trying to be be the mother I don't have.

She makes the best sweet potato pie on earth. Though she can be really bothersome, I only have lovfe for her.
