Transhemispheric Christmas Gifts - HELP!

So this is the first time I've had to send xmas presents from the US to Australia and I'm stuck for ideas because of all the restrictions:

*electrontics are out because of the voltage difference
*they have to be lightweight because I'd prefer the shipping to not cost more than the gift
*ive tried sending clothing for birthdays and the sizes have been wrong every time
*there doesnt seem to be an australian site like amazon that i can just order from and have them deliver and gift wrap (if there is - let me know!)

Heres a completely surperficial synopsis of each person:

mom: likes to travel, likes purty things, likes to garden

brother: just bought a 1/2 million dollar catamaran and hasnt sailed much before, likes golf, likes gadgets

sister in law: total A-type organizer, likes to travel, likes to renovate

neices to pieces: thinks barbie is tha shiz, barbie rivaled only by bratz

moms boyfriend: like gadgets and handy tool type things, enjoys a global disaster more than anyone ive ever known

close family friend: taekwondo black belt, likes gadgets too

help me help me help me. I only have a week to get these in the mail.

The Shopping category @ Yahoo Australia links to lots of Australian stores, there's an Australian eBay, there's probably loads more - Australian ILX'ers will be waking up in a couple of hours, they'll know more about this than me...

(maybe you should re-ask your question, but this time mention "Australia" in the thread title to get their attention? "looking for online Australian shops! help!" or something?)

There's wishlist.com.au but they're unfortunalely a little pricey, I've found.

It might be too impersonal for your liking/purposes, but what about electronic gift certificates for online music or gadget or book stores (don't necessarily have to be Australia-based)? I know South Africans can order from amazon.com or amazon.co.uk, so Australians *must* be able to. It would save you postage! Just a thought...

yeah, that is a pretty retarded thread title. ive never been good at marketing. yahoo is a good idea. thanks! i dont trust ebay to get through plus i need this stuff giftwrapped. gift certificates would be perfect except my family are really snippy about them, like 'if you didnt want to put ANY thought into it why did you bother at all??'. thanks anyways.

trayce, wishlist is a good idea. pricey might not be so pricey when compared with international shipping and USD vs AUD. i like their 'experiences' section. my sister-in-law sent my brother swimming with sharks at manly (NSW) aquarium last sept for his birthday. theyre big on that stuff.
i also remembered an online dept store called dstore.com.au but i also remember it having really crap stuff. drinking stuff mainly.
hey, whats up with this? http://www.wishlist.com.au/Product/ProductDetail.asp?SKUID=113423&CHID=27005&PCHID=

Oh yes DStore! Are they still around tho, I thought they went bust.

Ahaha Polestars! I think those classes are down the road from me, in Prahran somewhere. Interesting exercise idea.
